HARVEY WEINSTEIN EXPELLED FROM OSCARS ACADEMY OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES By Team Bollyy 16 Oct 2017 | Updated On 16 Oct 2017 06:52 IST in Hollywood New Update Follow Us Share Things have been falling apart for Harvey Weinstein and quite steadily so. Last week he was terminated from his own company and now he's been expelled from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This happened just days after allegations were made on him for having sexually assaulted women for over three decades. The Academy's 54-member board of governors said in a statement that Harvey was "voted well in excess of the required two-thirds majority to immediately expel him from the Academy." Besides announcing the decision to oust Weinstein, the academy said it was also giving out a loud and clear message to the world. "We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues, but also to send a message that the era of wilful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behaviour and workplace harassment in our industry is over," the academy said. "What's at issue here is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society," it said. "The board continues to work to establish ethical standards of conduct that all Academy members will be expected to exemplify." Finally, a right step towards taking action against sexual harassment. #Hollywood #news #Latest update #Harvey Weinstein #Oscars Academy Related Articles Advertisment Latest Stories Read the Next Article
