HBO HACKERS RELEASE RANSOM NOTE AND NEW STOLEN DATA
New Update

The notorious groups of hackers who hit HBO have been making headlines for leaking out unreleased HBO content. And to make things worse, they have now apparently got their hands on some internal emails, marketing materials and other documents related to the biggest show on television right now, Game of Thrones.

According to Wired, the hackers claim to have stolen a half-gigabyte sample of 1.5 tera-bytes data. The dumped data hacked by hackers also includes internal documents like emails, financial bills, marketing strategies, employee agreements etc. The Hackers used a pseudonym 'Mr. Smith' to post a fresh cache of stolen data on the HBO website on Monday and demanded a ransom of several million dollars in Bitcoin to prevent more such releases.

A spokesperson from the network has repeated the claim that the hackers didn’t have any access to HBO’s entire email system in an email sent to Variety: “HBO believed that further leaks might emerge from this cyber incident when we confirmed it last week. As we said, the forensic review is ongoing. While it has been reported that a number of emails have been made public, the review to date has not given us a reason to believe that our email system as a whole has been compromised.”

HBO is working with both law enforcement and private security companies in the wake of the hack, the network’s spokesperson said.
