When spoken to the excited Hemangi herself she said….
Tell us about your show?
Teri Laadli Main is a show that will showcase an emotional story of an unwanted mute girl child Bitti who longs for her father's acceptance and strives to overcome hurdles that challenge her existence. The show will take the viewers on a journey of Bitti an epitome of positivity who is hopeful and never backs down and pushes herself hard to work so that someday her father might show her the same affection he shows her brother. The show hopes to change the mindset of the heartland of India where people believe a family is only complete with the birth of a boy child and not a girl.
What made you say a yes to the character and to this show?
I will be seen essaying the role of Bitti’s mother – Urmila. The topic of the serial is very sensitive. There is a strong message in this show. When I was asked for the role, I immediately accepted it. I am happy to play strong character on screen. The treatment for the topic is little different in the serial. I am very excited for the feedback from the audience
Tell us about your character in the show?
As I mentioned above, I will be seen essaying the character of Urmila – Bittis’ mother in the show.
When pregnant - Urmilas’ in-laws force her to abort her child when they come to know it’s a girl in the womb. However, having a mothers’ heart, she stands by her decision to give birth to her child and raise her. Urmila is very emotional but takes stand when it comes to her child. She is selfless and sacrificing. Like every mother she is very supportive of her child despite everyone being against her being a girl child. She is very protective about Bitti and always encourages her in everything she wants to do. She is the only pillar of strength in Bittis’ life. I feel very blessed to have got an opportunity to essay such an important role in the show and I hope through this show we are successful in promoting the social message that every child is special be it a girl or boy.
What are your expectations from this show?
Fiction is one such genre that pleases the viewers. I am looking forward to the audience’s reactions on our show which will beautifully trace the journey of Bitti. I am very positive about this show as it’s a one of a kind show where we are trying to drive on the thought line of - ‘A family may give up on their daughter but a daughter will never give up on her family’. The entire team of Teri Laadli Main has put in a lot of efforts and I am hoping our hard work is appreciated for the same.
Back to shoot life post the lockdown. What are your views?
It feels great to come back on sets and begin shoot in this new normal. Things have changed but the vibe has remained same. There is a different kind of happiness that comes while facing the camera. Speaking in terms of safety, a lot of precautions have been taken. Proper sanitization and safety measures are taken, in and around the shooting premises. We adhere to social distancing as and when out shot gets over. Wearing mask is a priority that everyone keeps in mind without and reminder.
How is your experience working with your co-actors?
The entire cast and crew of the show is very supportive and fun to work with. These are initial days but the teams seem to be promising to have a blast and full of entertainment in the long run.
What other projects are you working on right now?
As of now, my only focus is on Teri Laadli Main. No plans for future, completely committed to my show.
How much are you getting paid? Are there any changes made post the lockdown?
For me the only thing that matters is the opportunity to connect with the audience and that is the best form of gratification for an actor is to receive whole lot of appreciation and love.
What is the message that you would want to give to your fans?
I am happy to be a part of daily soap. This is not a comeback but it is just me returning home. A home where I will be able to meet you every day. I would like to thank each and every one for the love and support they have always given to me. The success of our show Teri Laadli Main will certainly be dependent on everyone. The show will soon come on your favorite channel Star Bharat.
The concept of show is being compared to the South Indian shows on the Star Network; what are your comments on the same?
Yes there have been shows on Star Network around the same concept and they are doing extremely well, hence we wanted our Hindi speaking market audience also to experience it, hence the makers decided to bring this show to the viewers through Star Bharat.
Your lockdown experience
When the lockdown started initially, we were not aware that it would last this long since it did last for this long. I spent a lot of quality time for myself and focused on my art and love for acting. I think this lockdown has got families together and I have cherished each and every moment with my family.
Have you slashed your fees due to COVID?
I feel this not the time to think about it as a payment slash, as an actor my job is to perform and entertain audience. Star Bharat is generous enough as I would not call it payment slash. I am just grateful to be an entertainment warrior and if I get admiration and support from audience it will be the best.
Do you believe in nepotism?
I am here to talk about my show and would not like to comment on this.
Tune in to watch Hemangi Kavi essay the role of Urmila starting 5th January 2021 only on Star Bharat
