HERE'S WHAT AMITABH BACHCHAN WILL PLAY IN SAIRAT DIRECTOR'S BOLLYWOOD DEBUT

Last seen on the big screen in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3, Amitabh Bachchan is all set to play another real-life character in the much-awaited Bollywood debut of Sairat director Nagraj Manjule. The two-time National Award winning Marathi director is gearing up for big his Bollywood debut with a yet untitled social drama that will be inspired from real-life incidents.

Speaking to DNA director Manjule said, “Let’s just say, it is based on a real-life character. But the way I’ve written the part and the film, it moves very far away from the original source.” Talking about his research for the film's character he added, "I was researching on the subject. I don’t mind spending time on my script. I spent eight years on the script of Sairat. I wrote it with only Bachchansaab in mind. I’ve been his fan from childhood. I grew up copying his clothes, speech, and mannerisms from Majboor and Deewar. I’d go to school with my shirt tied like Bachchansaab in Deewar and get severely reprimanded by my teachers. But the punishment had no effect on me. I’d still do it."

If reports are to be believed, Nagraj's film is going to be a biopic on Vijay Barse, a retired school teacher (to be essayed by Amitabh Bachchan), who is behind Slum Soccer—an initiative which uses football to change the lives of hundreds of slum kids, helping them negotiate the harsh realities of a marginalised life with the game.

Amitabh Bachchan has a bunch of other films in his kitty as well which includes the likes of Thugs of Hindostan and Ayan Mukerji's Dragon. He is also working on an untitled project with Kabir Khan and R Balki. Currently, he is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 102 Not Out to be directed by Umesh Shukla.
