Begum Para's real name was Zubaida ul Haq. He was born in Jhelum (now in Pakistan) of the British Raj. He had 10 siblings. His father Haq Sahib was a judge and was based in Bikaner (Rajasthan). Zubaida studied at Aligarh University. One of his brothers was in films in Bombay and married a Bengali girl, Protima Das Gupta. Zubaida used to be with him only when he came to Bombay. Along with Pritima Das, she also used to attend high-profile parties where she used to meet many film personalities of that time. He was given a lot of offers for films. Among those who met she was Dilip Kumar's brother Nasir Khan, whom Zubeida later married. Zubeida started working in films under the name Begum Para. Nasir Khan made the film 'Ganga Jamna'. His son is actor Ayub Khan. Amrita Singh's mother Rukhsana Sultana was in a special relationship with her. From this relationship, she became the great-granddaughter of Sara Ali Khan. After her husband's death, she went to Pakistan for a few years and was away from the screen. Sanjay Leela Bhansali made her return to the screen once again as Sonam Kapoor's grandmother in his film 'Saawariya', but this film was her last film.
