Just a day after the auspicious festivities of Akshaya Tritiya and Eid Mubarak the music fraternity the playback singers had every reason to celebrate Yesterday evening at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, banquet hall it was a grand-milan-sangam-khushiyaan-manaao for a galaxy of senior iconic Bollywood singers.The Indian Music Industry (IMI), the apex body representing all member music labels in India, and the Indian Singers Rights Association (ISRA), the apex body representing all ( over 1000) members- singers in the country, have signed an amicable agreement between member labels of ISRA and IMI. Due to this agreement, all the record labels, singers, and musicians will be greatly benefited at the Pan-India level, and all the stakeholders of the entire music system associated with the Indian music world will now get their dues and royalties regularly on-time . The good news formal announcement took place in the in the presence of Hon'ble Commerce & Industries Minister Shri Piyush Goyal-jee due to whose efforts this Deal could materialise. Actively involved in the entire process was dynamic Sanjay Tandon Founder & CEO -- ISRA, under the guidance of Padma Shri Anup Jalota Chairman—ISRA and Chairperson Emeritus Asha Bhosle-jee. Unfortunately everyone missed the charismatic presence of Asha Bhosle who is the Chairperson Emeritus, She was unable to attend the historic Sunday event as she was unwell and was advised to take rest. Also she has yet another important Awards event to attend this (Monday) evening, where she is being honoured. according to Sanjay Tandon. At this historic event, it was a grand harmonious re-union of the leading revered singers of the nation including Hariharan ,Talat Aziz, Pankaj Udhas, Anuradha Paudwal, Shaan, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Shailendra Singh, Shahid Rafi ( also legal heir of legendary Moh’d Rafi Sahab), Salim Merchant, Shabbir Kumar, Roop Kumar Rathod, Jolly Mukherjee, Kunal Ganjawala and Aditi Singh Sharma apart from top bosses of Music Companies including Vikram Mehra -- MD SaReGaMa and Kumar Taurani of Tips Music... Interestingly, most of the above celeb-singers are prestigious Padma Awardees... The IMI and the ISRA expressed their immense praise, acknowledgment, and gratitude for Hon. Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal –jee for his unconditional support to the artist community and the music industry, and look forward to working with Shri Goyal to ensure that the industry unlocks its full potential and realises the dream of the Hon. Prime Minister of India to encourage Indian music and strengthen this soft power of the country Expressing his happiness, President of the Indian Singers Rights Association (ISRA), Padma Shri Anup Jalota said “I would like to thank the Government of India, especially Mr. Piyush Goyal, without whose help this contract would not have materialized. On this special occasion, I would like to wish everyone here the best of luck and hope that this contract will benefit the entire music world. ISRA-IMI have come together for this historic pact between record labels, singers and musicians. We have set aside a separate welfare fund for the needy, facing financial or medical crisis singers and musicians. Not only that, personally I will be donating ten per cent of my royalty received thru ISRA,” assured Anup Jalota On this historic and glorious occasion, the Indian music industry has also appealed to the Government of India to help combat the menace of digital piracy and copyright infringement. All the eminent legendary singers were asked to share their reactions and views on the historic agreement. An elated Pankaj Udhas , Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik separately said that it was a long-awaited almost-impossible dream come true, and they were extremely happy. While Shaan who was called on the stage spontaneously sang the ( Kasme Vaade) film-song “ Mile Jo Kadi-Kadi, Ek Zanjeer Bane” as an inspiring meaningful lyrical lines for the special occasion to work together in harmony and unity. “ Mile jo kadi kadi ek zanjeer bane. Pyar ke rang bharo zinda tasveer bane, Humsafar banke chalo, Toh suhana hai safar, Jo akela hi rahe, Usey na miley dagar “ ! Waah, yeh to ‘Shaan-dar’ soch thhi. Hariharan said, “It’s time to celebrate once again and singers will be able to sing much better’. Talat Aziz highly appreciated the grasping power and quick problem-solving ability of Minister Piyush Goyal, that too with total fairness”. Vikram Mehra, President, IMI and Managing Director, Saregama, said, “India is also recognized globally for its musical diversity. If the Indian music industry has to gain a foothold in the world, it is important that all stakeholders work together to achieve this goal. Work together to achieve. We've all seen the positive results of working with musicians, songwriters and publishers. I'm sure the results will be just as positive when performers and sound recording owners work together ." This will greatly benefit the music industry . It may be recalled that in the distant past, before ISRA had stepped in, playback singers were considered like a “vocal musical instrument” and only much later with the active support of Lata-Didi Mangeshkar and with all our concerted team-efforts the singers got their due rights and income as an individual human being singer. Our dedicated mission would be achieved and will get the status it deserves. This historic agreement is definitely a phenomenal jubilant news for all." Speaking on the occasion, Blaise Fernandes, President & CEO, Indian Music Industry, said, “This historic agreement will go a long way in helping the Indian music industry to become one of the 10 largest music industries in the world.
