We have come a long way in Hindi cinema and the one aspect in which we have made real rapid progress is in the field of making bold films and by bold i mean only bold films based on sex - ALI PETER JOHN

The first kiss happened when Devika Rani,the first lady of Indian cinema kissed her hero Himanshu Rai in the film, "Karma" made in 1933.

There were many other attempts made to have kissing scenes and other bold scenes, but it was I.S Johar who created some kind of history when he kissed his heroine Sonia Sahani on the lips in his film Bombay to Goa, which led many other film makers having kissing scenes in their films, till Raj Kapoor made kissing and other scenes with sexual overtones in his films "Mera Naam Joker", "Bobby" , "Satyam Shivam Sundaram", and "Ram Teri Ganga maili".

At around the same time there were a number of blatant rape scene in films like "Do raah", "Prabhat" and who can forget the brazen rape scene in B.R Chopra's "Insaaf ka tarazoo" and then in a film called "Zakhmi aurat" in which Zeenat Aman is raped and she punishes the rapists by castrating them?

Since the 80s sex and rape scenes had become a very usual affair, not only in Hindi films, but in films made in all the languages of the south and especially in Bengali...

And with the onslaught of the OTT platform and other mediums of film entertainments, sex scenes have become the only dominating subject that is possessing and even haunting the minds of filmmakers, who seem to have no other subjects.

Take a look at some of the shocking films that have already been shown on the OTT platforms and how they have been lapped up by the audiences which consists of men, women and children of all ages and even entire families who watch these films together, especially during these days of the pandemic.

The films threaten to change the fabric of our society, our culture and even our dreams of building a new India(this is entirely my own opinion and I fall at the feet of all those who beg to differ with me)
