‘Hum Paas Aaye…Gaane Sunaaye ’Jatin-Lalit ‘Re-Unite’ After 14 Years For  Mega-Concert With Eight Top Playback Singers

Impresario Meena Pandit  (wife of Lalit Pandit) is charged up as she shares,  “It will be a unique feast-buffet of chartbusting play-list melodies from the repertoire of legendary Bollywood composer duo brothers Jatin-Lalit who are coming together after 14 years.It’s for this  extravagant ensemble mega-concert ‘Eternal Hits’ that’s happening this Saturday evening (Feb 22^nd)  at Shanmukhananda auditorium.   We have seven top original playback singers performing  including Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Abhijit Bhattacharya, Shaan, Babul Supriyo , Vijayta Pandit, Sadhana Sargam, Mamta Sharma backed by a  60-member musicians orchestra, most of them original recording-takes cine-musicians, led  by rhythm-king Nitin Shankar,” discloses the music-savvy producer Meena,  who seemed so confident of its super-success that she has already planned the next season of the same show, with different chartbusting tracks being performed.  How did this sentimental ‘reunion’ of the allegedly estranged composer siblings happen ? Enthuses Meena, Somehow I conceived this daring dynamic concept just 45 days ago. By sheer coincidence, Shanmukhananda auditorium, was available on a Saturday and I went ahead with the booking on my banner’s name ‘I M Entertainment’ . Then I contacted all the top playback  singers who readily agreed, except maybe a couple of them who were genuinely unavailable on Saturday. Thankfully, everything else fell in place after that. The creative challenge for both Lalit and Jatin was selecting the songs within the time-frame   Meanwhile Lalit says, “As of now Jatin and I have come together for this live concert . As regards composing together for new Bollywood movies, let’s see what destiny has in store,” reacts star singer-sangeetkaar Lalit Pandit. All the playback singers (Abhijeet, Udit, Alka ,Vijayta) seemed so enthusiastic at the  rehearsals held yesterday evening at noted singer ‘Padma Shri’ Suresh Wadkar-owned Ajivasan Hall at Juhu. Reacted the outspoken, witty Abhijeet-da, “ This delightful experience is not just for the audience but for all us. We leading singers rarely meet each other, except for some very rare occasions like birthdays or weddings. That past ‘golden era’ is no longer there, where  singers would cordially connect regularly at recording studios. In fact there should be a combined music-directors live show,  like it used to happen in film-industry shows in the mid-‘80s and ‘90s. There is no concept these days of a single music director for a film. These days there are five to six music directors for a single Bollywood movie. Where are the  bonafide music directors-composers giving ‘original’ songs like it used to be /,” shrugs Abhijeet.  Some of the 27 chart-buster Jatin-Lalit songs to be performed live include ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaaon‘. ‘Chaand Sifaarish, Bin Tere Sanam  and ‘Koi Mill Gaya’
