“I Am A Hot And Bold Young Girl And Being In A Bikini Was Never A Problem For Me”- Pranali Bhalerao 

Pranali Bhalerao, who has passed out from Mulund College of Commerce, Mumbai with a degree in B. Sc. IT is now all set to make her debut in Marathi film with Milind Zumber Kavade’s first ever sex comedy in Marathi called Takatak in which she has been teamed opposite Abhijeet Amkar. PRANALI BHALERAO tells JYOTHI VENKATESH that there was absolutely no hesitation as far as appearing in a bikini or doing bold lip to lip kisses on the screen, because she is a hot and bold young girl of today.

What is your role in Takatak?

I play the role of a housewife Kamakshi who nurses a desire to write poems while Abhijit Amkar plays the role of Chomeshwar marries me only for my looks. Incidentally, the character of Chomeshwar lusts for every woman he comes across.

How did you get the break in Takatak to play the main lead?

Actually, it was all of a sudden that I got the offer to play one of the leads in director Milind Zumber Kavade’s Takatak, a day after the last day of the look test. Normally there is audition test first and later there is a look test but in my case, the look test was taken first and only then the audition was held and the very next day I was in Goa for the shooting of the film.

Is it true that you were not mentally prepared to take part in the shooting?

Yes. When I was into modeling, the idea of acting did not come to me at all. As far as Takatak was concerned, I should say that there was no time at all to think and I was not at all prepared mentally for the shoot, especially since I was asked to wear a bikini and I felt I had to work a lot on my body to get then right curves. Believe it or not, I was actually on a liquid diet for the next five days even as the shoot went on.

What kind of preparation you had to undergo for the shooting other than toning down your body to get in to the bikini? Were you deterred when you were told to get in to a bikini?

I had to give 100 % to prepare myself. I am a well educated modern Mumbai girl and have been modeling for the last two years. I am 23 years old. I am not a sweet 16 that I was terrified when I was told to get into a bikini. It was not that I was not at all told that I would have to don a bikini for the film. I am well endowed and am 5’ 9” tall.

Takatak is being tomtommed as a modern day sex comedy. How was your experience of being a part of the team?

I am lucky that then offer to be part of Takatak came my way. I am the only new face in the film since both Prathamesh Parab and Ritika Shrotri have been part of a couple of films whereas I am making my debut as an actress with the film.

Weren’t you scared to face the camera for a film after having been a model?

I didn’t panic that I had to face the camera for the film Takatak as I had already faced the camera as a model for two years but frankly was scared when I got into the bikini because doing photo shoots is a different ball game. I am glad I was told that I carried it off well and was as good as Sai Tamhankar or for that matter Priyanka Chopra in bikini since I am technically very camera friendly and bold.

Were you comfortable doing the lip to lip kiss or getting into the bikini for the film?

I’d say that there was absolutely no hesitation as far as appearing in a bikini or doing bold lip to lip kisses on the screen, because I consider myself a hot and bold young girl and being in a bikini was never a problem and only my family was a major concern but luckily for me, they were very supportive.

Takatak is the first ever sex comedy in Marathi. Were you apprehensive about being trolled or being the butt of criticism for your bold scenes in the film?

I have always been positive. I know there may be a section of people who may troll me but I am unperturbed especially because my dad has told me that I could go ahead if I feel good  and comfortable and did not feel that the scene would end up being vulgar.

Who are your favorite actors among the males and females in Bollywood?

My favorite actors in Bollywood are Vicky Kaushal, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, besides Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor

After doing a sex comedy in Marathi, do you feel that you will be typed in typical stereo typed roles in future too in Marathi films?

I will never allow myself to restrict myself as far as my roles are concerned, especially as I feel that type casting is a cardinal sin for any actor. Though I have done bold sequences and making out scenes in Takatak as it is a bold sex comedy which is being presented for the first time in Marathi Cinema, I am open to challenging as well as complex characters which come my way, even if they are not glamorous

What next, after Takatak?

I am very excited because I have been signed for one more film in Marathi by the director of Takatak- Milind Kavade. I have also signed a Telugu film which has not been titled as of now. Eight songs have been recorded for the film the shooting for which will soon shortly after the release of Takatak
