For the past 14 weeks, &TV’s High Fever…Dance ka Naya Tevar has seen a heartening camaraderie amongst the contestants and the celebrity judges alike. What began as an opportunity for contestants to live their dreams, has now become a second home to them, where they can discuss matters close to their heart. The show’s new judge, Salman Yusuff Khan, taking a little detour from the regular dance conversations, reminisced a beautiful moment, when he proposed to his first and only lady love. Recalling it as an arranged marriage fixed by their peers, he went on to share his emotions and excitement that he felt during that time. “I have always been a one-woman man and very old school when it came to matters of the heart”, said Salman.

A shy boy back then, Salman humorously recollected the incident when he took 2 days to memorise a few filmy lines to propose to his first love. With support from his friends and a plan to proclaim his love in the corner seat of a theatre while sharing popcorn, the dancer was all prepared for one of the biggest highlights of his life. His excitement and enthusiasm all came to a halt when he was confronted by a couple of bridesmaids at a coffee shop.

“My friend who was supposed to help me out through this situation had to leave. Woh gaya aur uske saath meri umeed bhi gayi. I was very scared at that moment”, said the judge laughingly. Being thrown with special proposal requests from each of his wife’s friends, he finally decided to narrate to his love the filmy lines that made his life. “Faiza, main tumse bahut pyar karta hoon, aur iss zindagi mein sirf ek mauka chahta hoon tumse”, recalled a grinning Salman.

Adding more to the dramatic incident, he enacted her reactions post his proposal and also told how he eagerly waited for her response. “I’ll call you was her response to my proposal and I was left heartbroken in that moment. I thought it was over and I felt like crying on being rejected by her”, shared Salman. A call from his then to be wife after this incident instantly changed his mood, and his fate. Recollecting it with utmost clarity, Salman said, “Over a call she told me, Ok! I will give you a chance.”

The dancer has been married to his first love for over 4 years now and still blushes at every memory of proposing to her. “I have known my wife, Faiza for over 14 years now and she was my first and my last girlfriend. We started off as an arranged marriage and are still going strong today”, said Salman.
