“I am aware of Parkinson’s, ARE YOU?” rung loud at the event “Shake it up for Parkinson’s”(SUP) held to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease at The St. Regis, Mumbai. The event was organized by the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS) in association with Dr. Cheryl Misquitta, President Bandra Gymkhana and Mr. Dipankar Zalpuri, Director, YouMe&We Media Services. The gala saw extensive support from celebs and personalities like Smita Thackeray, Terence Lewis, Princess Françoise Sturdza, Sandhya Shetty amongst others, besides renowned doctors that walked the ramp for Neeta Lulla, Nivedita Saboo and Pria Kataaria Puri to spread awareness. Live performances by Shibani Kashyap, Bidihsa Mohanty, Naquita Dsouza, Mentalist Vivek Desai, and Rhapsody Out Loud enthralled the distinguished audience. Under the leadership of Dr. Bhimsen Singhal, Founder and Dr. Maria Barretto, CEO, the PDMDS currently delivers free of cost care for People with Parkinson’s through 56 centers spread across 11 states. The PDMDS’ motto, “Together we move better”, was beheld in action by the audience at SUP when the real-life showstoppers, people with Parkinson’s from Mumbai “shook off” their physical limitations to present a group dance performance.
