A national level sportsman and also a fitness model, now turned actor, Amardeep Phogat is realizing his dreams of breaking into the entertainment industry. One of the few actors who continued to shoot during the lockdown, Amardeep's latest music video is in collaboration with singer Nachattar Gill for his song, 'Rooh Uthe Vaar'. Previously, he modelled for Kamal Khan's track, 'Teri Ho Ke'. "Both songs released within a week of each other," says Amardeep who has acted in TV series, 'Savdhan India'.
The actor who hails from an Army family, has been an active sports person prior to being an actor. "I played national level kho-kho, handball for the national team for five years and also at the state level and also captained my team in the second year. But as the luck would have it, I was spotted by a casting agent and offered 'Savdhan India', and since then there has been no looking back."Both the songs having been doing extremely well and are becoming popular each day, Amardeep adds, "I am grateful to Nachattar Gill for giving me this song, both the songs are growing every second and I couldn't have asked more from lovers."
Commenting on Kamal Khan's music video, 'Teri Ho Ke', Amardeep says, "The song holds a very special place in my heart because it is made like the story of a film," He adds, "When I was asked to do the song, I was nervous as it had a story that was very emotional. And coming from an Army family I have always been told to be strong about my emotions and not spill them over in public (laughs). But, then I spoke to my family and parents and they said it was OK and I should go ahead with it.”Amardeep, who is currently shooting in Chandigarh, says that though he hails from an Army background and upholds the traditions of the Army and has been brought up with patriotism ingrained in his character, his personal choice was to be an actor. "I got a tattoo done because I was so keen on the glamour/modelling world, and then realised that now I cannot be inducted in the Army since they are strict about tattoos and stuff. But, my family came around to this fact and said I could do what I was passionate about."Though Amardeep quit playing sports, he has remained in touch with his fitness routine and practices his moves even in between shots on the shooting sets.
