"I Am Not A Part Of Takatak 2 Though I Had Acted In Takatak" - Ritika Shrotri

The chirpy and young actress prefers to be non controversial and herself censors more than half of the questions that were mailed to her and opted to answer only the harmless non controversial questions.

In this exclusive e mail interview for bollyy.com and Mayapuri, young and petite RITIKA SHROTRI tells JYOTHI VENKATESH that she is now transitioning slowly and steadily and would also like to be part of Hindi films after having made her presence felt in a reasonable way in Marathi films

How did you bag your break in films?
I started working in theatre right at the age of 5. I used to perform in school plays mostly.

Then I started working in Marathi daily soaps & finally I did my first film as a lead at the age of 15. The director had seen my previous work & he approached me.

Tell me something about your debut film and your role in it?

My debut film was Slambook. It was a 90's teen love story full of raw innocence. I got a chance to share screen with the veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar & learned a lot from him. I was playing the role of an out spoken & confident girl Aparna.

How happy are you with the way your career has shaped up in films till date?

I've worked in different genre of films like Boyz, Takatak, Bucket List, Slambook. I played the role of Madhuri Dikshit's daughter in Bucket List & audience has loved me too in all these films.

I'm very grateful for that. I've also recently done a Netflix film that'll be releasing this year.

My upcoming marathi film is Darling which will be releasing soon! I'm very excited for my all future projects & I feel blessed to have been part of all my past projects.

Why have you not tried your luck at acting in Hindi films, though you are young, talented and also good looking and sexy?

I'm transitioning slowly! I'd love be part of some good projects. I'm just waiting for the right one!

When do you plan to mingle and discard your singlehood tag?

Haha! Right nowI am only interested in just focusing on my career & studies!

Who are your favorite actors in Bollywood?

There are many! To name a few, Akshay Kumar, Rajkummar Rao, Priyanka chopra & Sanya Malhotra.

Who are your favorite actors in Marathi films?

Mukta Barve & Amey Wagh are my favorites!

Who are your favorite actors in Hollywood?

Meryl Streep, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr.

Which are your 5 best films till date?

Bucket list, where I've played Madhuri Dixit's daughter Radhika. Boyz, Takatak & Darling (upcoming)

What do you have to say about the pandemic now? How did you tackle it?

I feel this is a very difficult time & I'm very lucky to be able to be at home with my family. To tackle this problem we need to stand together, help others & follow the safety guidelines. Let's stay strong & have faith.

How is the state of Marathi film industry today?

Right now the film industry is suffering like many other industries due to the pandemic. There are restrictions on shooting & many films cannot be released in theatres for now.

But we hope things will be better as the vaccination has started. As they say, 'no matter how dark the night is, the sun shall always rise'.
