The actor, who has been seen in shows such as EK Aastha Aisi Bhi, TV Meri Hanikarak Biwi and web series Dil Hi Toh Hai season 2, says that she loves her character. “Negative has always been my genre as it’s so challenging to perform a negative role rather than a positive character. Shweta’s character is special as it has both parts to play. She is trying to be the naive one in front of Kunal and she is negative otherwise. So, I get to play both which is the fun element. Also, I loved being the ‘blast from the past’. There’s so much of drama to add to the show,” she says.Talking about how she came on board, she says, “I got a call from the production house to give an audition. I was in my hometown Nagpur so I flew down to Mumbai for some work as well as the audition. I gave the audition and took an evening flight back. I got a call the very next day to come back to sign the contract. The audition went quite well and I was excited as negative has always been my genre.” However, the actor adds that she cannot associate much with her character. “I cannot relate to it. Honestly, I’m a totally different person in real life. If I describe myself then I’m totally a vibe-person and I don’t get along with people with negative vibes. I believe in positivity and a good vibe environment off screen. But when it comes to the way Shweta dresses, then yes, totally I can relate to the character,” she says. Talking about the title of the show, she says, “The title of the show is great as it’s about love. And love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own. So, I think the title Ye Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke is totally apt!” The show is a spin-off of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, a show which Palak has admired. “Honestly, I had heard a lot about this show, especially from my family, before I joined. I started watching it the moment I got locked for the same. I did watch a few episodes and love the way the show looks,” she says. Talking about working with producer Rajan Shahi and Director’s Kut Production, she says, “It’s been great so far. I personally met Rajan Shahi at the office for the character discussion. It was altogether a great vibe. I’ve never felt uncomfortable with anyone nor has anyone disrespected me on the set. It’s a great opportunity to work with Director’s kut. It feels like a family.” For more Bollywood updates, follow Bollyy!
