The Kannada film starring Zaid Khan and Sonal Monteiro and titled Banaras will release as a PAN India film in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi on November 4. Written and directed by Jayathirtha and produced by Tilakraj Ballal, its music composer is B. Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematographer is Advaitha Gurumurthy. The film Banaras revolves in and around locations in Kashi, making it the first South Indian film to be shot entirely in Uttar Pradesh. The star cast for the film also includes Sujay Shastry, Devaraj, Achyuth Kumar, Barkath Ali, and Sapna Raj in supporting roles.

Along with the Kannada super star Dr Ravi Chandran, Arbaaz Khan attended the trailer launch of Banaras in Bengaluru as the chief guest and launched the Hindi version’s trailer. While Zaid Khan is just making his debut with Banaras, his leading lady Sonal Monteiro has already acted till date in almost 10 films including Tulu and Kannada. Zaid confesses that initially when they started acting together in the first schedule of the film Banaras, he felt that Sonal would be egoistic and arrogant especially since she is senior to him. Zaid realized that Sonal was a gem of a person and publicly said that he is sorry that he misunderstood Sonal even before he started working with her on the sets of the film. Zaid also added. “I was just a small peanut in front of Sonal and the entire team which worked on the completion of the film Banara.

Sonal, who is quite established in South Indian cinema, including Tulu films, spoke about Hindi. “There were no issues as a language. We were all like a family and connected whole heartedly.” When asked about her debut Bollywood film Saajan Chale Sasural 2, which has been shelved though it was launched five years ago, Sonal revealed, “I was supposed to do that film. I think you should ask this to the team. There were some issues with the producer’s side but I can now vouchsafe that I am all set to stage my comeback to Bollywood with my biopic on Sarojini Naidu.”
