In this freewheeling first exclusive one to one interview of hers, for bollyy.com and Mayapuri, pretty and petite NEHA SONWANE who is making her debut with the Marathi film Roundel tells JYOTHI VENKATESH It is difficult to believe it but the fact remains that the pretty young sultry beauty Neha Sonawane who is making her debut as a leading lady with the film Roundel is actually a well-qualified engineer who hails from Nashik in Maharashtra.
Gajanan Padol’s action film ‘Raundal’ starring Bhausaheb Shinde and Neha Sonawane is a Marathi action drama film directed by Gajanan Nana Padol and produced by Bhoomika Films and Entertainment and Rise Entertainment. The film stars Bhausaheb Shinde who shot to fame with just two films in Marathi- Khwada and Baban, and Neha Sonawane in the lead
How did Neha bag the coveted role in the film? I ask Neha when I met her at the trailer launch of the film at the Famous Studio in Mahalakshmi and she replied, “I was called for audition for the role of the leading lady of the film and I went to their office in Pune from Nashik with my father after I consulted both my parents who felt that It would be a great opportunity to work with the national award winning actor Bhau Shinde of Khwaada and Baban fame.”
Neha confesses frankly that she felt she had no chance of being selected for the part and actually thought that she had been rejected after the audition because for almost a month after she had given the audition, she got no call to let her know whether she was selected for the film or not, because she knew nothing at all about acting and was only into modelling right from her college days. “Right from the time I was a tiny kid, I used to look at myself in the mirror and experiment with whatever I knew about acting.”
Neha Sonawane goes gaga over her leading man Bhau Shinde because she had liked him right from the time when she had watched him act in films like Khwada and Baban and what she liked the best was the fact that Bhau did not at all make her feel that he was a senior star when compared to her when they were facing the camera and guided her as and when she needed some tips as far as acting was concerned.”
The film is about rural politics and the farmer who gets crushed in it, the hero who breaks the tyranny, his love story, his struggle, his fight for others, and how the hero who stands alone against the whole system, politics in the sugar factory, melodious music, realistic action scenes, war against power, against crime. Neha adds that though the film is action oriented, she also has a lot of scope to show her talent in the film.
Neha is quite confident off the screen and tells me that once she knew that she had been selected for them part, she made it a point to prepare herself for the part diligently and worked on herself by taking part in a few acting workshops and followed the advice of her director not to just act but just be herself in front of the camera.”
The film also stars Sanjay Lakade, Yashraj Dimbale, Surekha Dimbale, Shivraj Valvekar, Ganesh Deshmukh and Sagar Lokhande in pivotal roles. The romantic song Man Baharala has been picturized on Bhausaheb and Neha is penned by lyricist Dr. Vinayak Pawar. Music composer Harshit Abhiraj has composed the melodious voice of singer Vaishali Made.
The perfect blend of melodious instrumentals and unique camera handling by the duo adds to the beauty of the song ‘Mana Baharala.’ Another important feature of this song is its expressive lyrics which suit the realistic locations of the village and the events of the plot.
Neha signs off with an air of flourish. “My favourite actress is none other than Madhuri Dixit. Though I have not been lucky enough to meet her till today, I would love to meet her one day and take her autograph because I admire her for following her dream and becoming the idol of the entire nation.”
