What is your role in the serial Ranju Ki Betiyaan which is on air on Dangal TV?

The name of the character I'am playing is Rajveer Shukla. The Character is opposite Bulbul Mishra, who is the 2nd daughter of Ranju, played by Roopal Tyagi

Also, this character has many layers, a back story, and deals also with his childhood trauma.

Rajveer’s dad is a very big politician who completely ignores his family. While Rajveer is young, his mom had health issues and dies.

Since then Rajveer starts calling his father Shuklaji and doesn't address him as a dad because he thinks that he has lost respect as a father.

He did not pay attention to his son and not even his wife, and Rajveer feels that his mother died because of him.

Rajveer is still stuck around with his childhood trauma. Bulbul Mishra, who is a "pehelwan" saves my dad from the gangsters and Shuklaji hires Bulbul as his bodyguard or P.A, and hence for anything first he has to take the approval from Bulbul.

And that's when the clashes start. Rajveer feels that is his money and is angry when Bulbul controls him from spending.

There are many more twists like Rajveer kidnaps her sister and then forcefully gets her married only to make Bulbul feel bad.

It is initially a very negative character but later as the show goes on it is shown that due to an incident, Rajveer falls in love with Bulbul but right now they hate each other and to put her in trouble I only keep crossing my limits.

I kidnap two of her sisters, so yeah it's pretty much negative in the beginning but later it turns positive.

In real life, you are a cop’s son. In how many shows are you playing the role of a cop?

Yes. My dad is a police Officer. I have recently done Bhaukaal. Mohit Raina was in the lead and he had 4 team members.

I was one of the team members and was playing the character of Vinod Sharma in it. Season 1 was a big hit on MX Player and now I shot the second season in Lucknow in February and March.

It is a great pleasure playing the role of Police Inspector of UP because of my father is in the UP Police.

I was playing a real-life character of a police from UP, so Bhaukaal is a real-life story. Muzzafarnagar is said to be the crime capital and this story is also based there.

You have been a part of films but did not have a major role. Is there any film with a major role?

I have been a part of two films majorly. One is Kaavya, a horror film. The other one is also a horror film but it has four stories of which I'm playing the lead in one.

Which do you feel is more important to you- Television or feature films?

For me, the character is more important than the medium. Even right now, my character Rajveer is very different from a typical television character.

He has to struggle, has a lot of trauma, his upbringing is different and gives a lot of range to perform.

The character has many layers. Hence, the character and range of the character is important for me.

How vital is Ranju Ki Betiyaan for you as far as your career is concerned?

Ranju Ki Betiyaan is the No 1 show on Dangal TV. They were supposed to bring a shift to the story and this character has a strong impact on that and when the production house reached out to me with character, I agreed to it.

How long have you been acting since?

I have been acting for the last 4 years.

Are you working on any other projects?

Currently, it is Ranju Ki Betiyaan. I like to focus on one character at a time.

How many serials have you done till date and how will you rate them?

I have done 3 shows till now. For me, Ranju ki Betiyaan is No 1 as the character is amazing.

Then there was Dil Sambhal Ja Zara that I did with Star Plus and number 3 would be Shaadi Ke Siyaape on &TV. It was a comedy show and I don’t think it is a genre I am very comfortable with.

What is your wish list of directors?

Imtiaz Ali is one of my favorite directors. I love his movie and characters. I believe if the director's vision is clear, then he can easily bring the best out of his actors. Another one of my favorite directors is Anurag Basu.

You have also worked in web series. Which were those?

I am a part of Bhaukaal at present and I have played the negative lead in Virgin Bhaskar. Last year, I have worked in a crime web show alongside Deepshika Nagpal, with whom I am working again in Ranju Ki Betiyaan.

Are you prepared to shed your clothes for web series?

That won't be a criterion for saying no to a web series. If the character is very powerful and it is on a strong platform like Netflix or Amazon, I would definitely like to be a part of the web show.

Where do you see yourself after 5 years? Web series or films or TV shows?

I have acted till date in web series, films and TV shows. In the next 5 years, I would 'like to explore different characters because as an actor I need to be versatile.

In fact, to get into the character in one of the recent films I had to gain 15kgs, as it was a period drama movie, belonging to an era almost 2000 years old.

In Ranju Ki Betiyaan, my introduction scene was in a pool, so I had to get abs and get a swimmer's body.

For this, I had to lose 15 kgs that I had gained. So I know I have to work on my body, my looks, and after 5 years I want to reach a point where the audience will respect me as an actor not because I'm doing big films but for my performance. This is my major focus.
