“I WANTED TO ACT IN JUST ONE FILM OF MANI RATNAM SIR & RETIRE FOREVER AS AN ACTOR AFTER THAT”, SAYS CHIYAAN VIKRAM

Vikram plays the role of Aaditha Karikalan in PS1. And he calls it his “dream role”. The film is based on iconic writer Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic novel on the Chola empire. The book has been adapted for the screen by director Mani Ratnam. The movie will be released in two parts and the first part will hit the screens on September 30.

Chiyaan Vikram confessed that it was his ardent dream to get the great opportunity to work in a film of Maniratnam when he had started working in small roles in the earlier phase of his life as a struggler in Tami films. “I should frankly confess that Mani Ratnam Sir’s impact on my life as well as career has been very tremendous. I actually wanted to retire from acting in life after just working in one film of Mani Ratnam Sir as well as Shankar Sir but I ended up working in not just one film but two films directed by Mani Ratnam Sir including Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Anniyan as well as I of Shankar Sir. And still I have not yet retired nor am I tired after working with eminent directors like Mani Ratnam Sir as well as Shankar Sir, as I had thought and planned because life has been very kind to me”

Chiyaan Vikram adds frankly as a matter of fact. ”When I was working with Mai Sir in his film Ponniyin Selvi 1, frankly Mani Sir threw me into muck and that too in a thick jungle and not on road in a bike like I thought he would but I am not at all complaining even a wee bit. Frankly I would say that it has been my best opening shot in PS 1that too on a horse. What more can I indeed ask for? It is a great ensemble film which has been made by a big production house like Lyca and directed by a great filmmaker like Mani Ratnam Sir.’

Cheyan Vikram concludes by stating that he is very happy that he had been able to bag his second film with Mani Ratnam as the director after he had acted in his film Raavan though I am sad that I have not been teamed opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan . When I complained to Mani Sir, he said that he could not help at all as the subject had been written 70 years ago and he was not in a position to tweet it in any way.”
