“I was sent back in time”, Sakshi Tanwar reminisces over her ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ days

It has been a long 14 years since the conclusion of ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’, one of the pioneers of television industry. Star Plus announced its re-run, surprising both the audience and the star cast of the show. Sakshi Tanwar talks about her first day on the set, and how much she has changed because of the show.

1. How does it feel to know that your show 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' is coming back?

"It feels great, it feels wonderful, because there are very few instances in a career span where a show as big, hugely popular and successful as 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' comes back to television.

I feel fortunate, and our cast and crew is really excited. We're all very thrilled actually. It started around 22 years ago and now it's been 14 years after its full run.

Now we will be able to experience what was so special about the show as an audience ourselves. So, we are very happy, and grateful too."

2. Did you feel nostalgic when you got back into the look of 'Parvati Bhabhi'?

"I was sent back in time honestly, the same get-up, look, costume designs, all of it is quite overwhelming for me. Even my family wished me as if I was actually going for a Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii shoot.

When daily soaps first came out, people used to watch our show on a daily basis. So, it's a very happy feeling."

3. How did this all come together on such a short notice before you had to get back in your 'Parvati' look?

“All of this was done in a very short period of time. My team was more excited than me, regarding Parvati's look. My hairdresser called me in the morning and said that we will also use gajra for my character.

When I was getting ready, I specifically asked for that diamond bindi and my make-up artist said that it was not available. I said that you have to make it available by hook or crook.”

4. How was your first day on the set of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii?

"Back then I was very tired after the first day's shoot. I had never experienced something like that, and I worked pretty hard. I was the first one to reach on the set. The spent almost all day making Rangoli, as it was my introductory scene.

All of my co-stars were senior to me and experienced. So, my shoot ran long and I was tired. I went to the nearest shop where I called my mother. Those days we didn't have phones, so I dialed my mother's STD phone number. I poured my heart out to her and she made me realize that I had chosen this for a reason and I have to make it."

5. What was it like on the sets after all of you got to know each other?

"We had lots of fun on the set. All of us teased each other and sometimes got away with pranks too. It was difficult for us to get through a serious scene because we couldn't stop laughing. We were used to getting scolded sometimes too. But we had a great time with each other and enjoyed a lot."
