Who knows this truth except Saira Banu?

On that dark morning of July 7, 2021, when Dilip Kumar passed away into eternity, leaving his beloved wife, Saira Banu his wife of over 60 years,  her first reaction was "I have lost my reason to live" was the greatest truth she had spoken about their relationship as lovers and husband and wife. What was Dilip Kumar but the very reason for Saira's existence? She was his glorious shadow and his greatest support and stood by him in all his good times and bad times and I have never seen a more dedicated wife like Saira who was a wife, a companion,  fascinating nurse, and even a mother figure towards the last 20 years of his life when she lived every moment of her life for him.

          She had set up a complete modern hospital at their bungalow on Pali Hill with some of the best doctors on duty 24×7 and nurses and technicians working round a clock, she could do anything to save her beloved Sahab's life. She must have been one wife who must have made the maximum rounds of some of the best hospitals in Mumbai and what would she have felt when all her efforts had come to an end, and her dream man was cruelly snatched away from her right in front of her eyes and she had even lost the ability to cry.

          And as the entire country and the world were talking about the loss of the greatest legend, I was thinking about how this beautiful and sensitive woman would live without the man who was the anchor of her life. I found it difficult even to send her a condolences, but when I gathered courage and sent her one, she had the courage to sent me an instant reply saying that she was trying to manage to live her life without her Jaan(life) but I still felt that life must have been extremely difficult for her and the pressure of living without her Sahab must have been unbearable.

           And the result of the pressure on her could be seen when on August 29th, early in the morning, she was rushed in an ambulance to the same Khar, Hinduja Hospital for complaints of low blood pressure and lung disease including breathlessness. After two days of intensive treatment by almost the same doctors who treated her husband, she was admitted to the ICU of the hospital where some of the best doctors have been treating her for the last one week and most of the doctors feel that more that any ailments, it is her missing her husband that is badly affecting her health.

           And at 34 Pali Hill, where the most talked of about couple lived for more than half a century there.. is what Dharmendra, a close friend of the couple " Ek ajeeb kaali kaali khalipan hain, jo kabhi bhari nahin jaa sakti."

           Saira is slowly recovering and may be discharged soon, but when will her broken heart and battered soul recover?
