Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) organized director’s master-class session with choreographer, filmmaker Farah Khan moderated by renowned actress Pallavi Joshi. This was part of IFTDA's programme called ‘Meet The Director’ to create a platform for young and aspiring filmmakers to interact with established Film directors and in process, learn and hone their craft of filmmaking.  In the past, IFTDA had organized masterclasses with some of the finest Indian film-makers working today including Mani Ratnam, Aanand L. Rai, Tigmanshu Dhulia, David Dhawan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Zoya Akhtar, Rohit Shetty and legendary Gulzar and Pyarelal Ji to name a few.The event also saw felicitation of Om Raut, director of Tanhaji by Farah Khan while filmmaker Vipul Shah felicitated Farah and Pallavi Joshi.

Says Ashoke Pandit, Filmmaker and President, IFTDA, “ Film students generally learn about filmmaking in classes and lack the practical know-how of filmmaking. Many aspiring filmmakers seek an opportunity to learn from filmmakers who have created a niche for themselves. A platform like this helps these aspiring filmmakers to learn and grasp the practicality of the creative business.”Farah Khan spoke about her journey and entertained the audiences by her witty anecdotes throwing light on how she became a choreographer by accident, became one of the most popular choreographers and then went on to direct few of the biggest films apart from acting as a leading lady in a film alongside Boman Irani. She also spoke about breaking the gender stereotypes and being a mother to her three children. The next Masterclasses is on 11th March with Ashwini Iyer Tiwary known for Films like Nil Battey Sannata, Bareilly Ki Barfi and recently released Panga. The masterclass would be moderated by casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

It is indeed a pity that neither Hema of the PR agency 1h or Ashoke Pandit, President, IFTDA bothered to invite the senior print media including this correspondent to attend amazing interactions like this one
