Ikk Kudi Punjab Di: Avnish Rekhi i.e., Ranjha of the show talked about the story of the show and his character

Avinash Rekhi, who made his mark with shows like 'Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon', 'Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji' and 'Chhoti Sardarni', will be seen in the role of Ranjha in Zee TV's upcoming show Ik Kudi Punjab Di. Let's hear from him about his character and show.

What was your reaction when you came to know that your look for this show was going to be like a Punjabi Munde?

I was very excited when I came to know about this story. I also asked Ranjeet, the writer of this show, whether this character is with a turban or without a turban, and when he said that this character is with a turban, I was very happy. Getting an opportunity like this means people like to see me in this getup, and people want this kind of show to be made.

Everyone knows the story of Heer Ranjha, tell us something about how he has been portrayed in this show.

This is a very different story because we mostly get to see romance between a boy and a girl. The boy and girl in this story are friends. The understanding they have with each other and the bond they share is very unique. In this story, we are trying to show that a boy and a girl can also be friends. My character Ranjha has been an orphan since childhood, he grew up in a Gurdwara, and Heer's family has given him everything, so he is attached to them with a different kind of emotion. He respects Heer's family a lot. If he prays to God, he does it for Heer's family first and then for himself.

How was the experience of working with Tanisha?

She is very dedicated to her work. She is still new but very hardworking. She doesn't know Punjabi so she faces some problems in dialogues so when we rehearse for the lines, I tell her a few things. The director of our show is also Punjabi, so he also helps her. She has been doing very good work and is also learning something new.

How was your experience working with the entire cast and director?

In every show you meet new people, create new bonds, and you experience something new. Apart from a few people, I am meeting all of them for the first time and working with them for the first time, this experience is also different.

Fans have loved each of your characters, what would you like to say to your fans?
