Game of Thrones has finally ended and while some love the show, others were hugely disappointed with its ending. Our favourite telly actors talk to JYOTHI VENKATESH of bollyy.com about why they love the show and how they feel it should have ended.

The success of Game of Thrones really depends on the way it’s been made. The graphics, the visuals, the story and the actors they have taken is really cool. And there is so much creativity and variety. If you really follow the seasons, you will notice the power, the magic, the creativity level. And the major reason why it is a worldwide hit is that now the time of cable TV is over and people are more into web content. So, in India also this is the major reason why it has become a huge hit.  The end had to be something and I am happy with the end. Whoever has written the story deserves applause for the whole story and concept of GOT.

The reason for the success of GOT is the direction and the storyline because you get to see so many different things in a single story. It is not just a single track, there are 4-5 tracks going on. Similarly, they combine it one by one towards the end finale season. It is like, you don’t get bored by watching the same thing. There are different stories going on that are interlinked with one another and as an actor I think, it worked because of that only because the audiences don’t get bored seeing one particular thing.  They get to see many kingdoms. India is no.4 in the viewership because mostly all the young generation watches GOT. I am okay with the ending, I am not so happy because the way I thought it would turn up, it did not turn that way. I loved the fight between white walkers also. The war with Cersei is amazing too. But then the last episode, I think, was a little disappointing.

Game of Thrones has been a prolonged theme in all mythologies. In India, Game of Thrones parallels have existed. We called it Mahabharat then, it was an amazing success in India in the 90s. People since then have been waiting for a grand story of war, probably that's the prime reason why GOT has a lot of Indian viewers. As an actor, I feel it is a show not to be missed for its shockers and the amazing framework of storytelling and production design which resulted in this superhit series. But as Darren Affrosky says if the product ain't good, it doesn't culminate into a great ending. Season 8 was all over the place from episode 3, the great war that we all waited for 7 season and 2 episodes and it finished while I went for a leak! I was hugely disappointed by how the writing became obvious and convenient, unlike their previous episodes. The end was like an orgasm gone bad.

Well firstly, they have got massive budgets and the amazing part about GOT is its sheer magnitude. There's love, there is war, there are all kinds of things going on relationships, what points are people willing to do for power. I think today everyone is power hungry and so a lot of people can relate to it. Wherever you go, a Game of Thrones is going on. It doesn't matter, you can be playing Game of Thrones even in your office or anywhere else. I have no idea why the viewership is 4th in India, probably because of our massive population, probably because India is starting to watch more web series and stuff like that people are educating themselves through it. As far as the show was concerned, I loved the ending.

Game of Thrones worked because of the quality of content, from 8 years this show is going on and they have worked so nicely on the script.  It was a different kind of show from whatever we have seen on television and in films, the fascination about the characters, kingdoms and how it was all connected and each character was established. They maintained the curiosity level. In India it was hit for two reasons firstly it was loved by the people who love to watch quality content and the second reason being that it was a bold show that's what I believe. In India, we are restricted from such presentation and boldness on the screen. The controversial thing being the presentation of women in the show, I personally didn't like some of the scenes. The ending could have been much better as they didn't wait for the book to release and the writing of the books is still in process and the ending was not at all expected it was done just for the sake of it. It was quite predictable which the other seasons were not. This season ended very badly.

I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones I watched all the seasons twice, the reason why it worked is the quality of the writing and detailing in the storyline, the connection and the journey of every character. When we watch just one season you cannot say how the particular character would work in the forthcoming seasons. The reason it worked in India connected the emotions to the audience. I wasn't happy with the ending, the way the whole show was given the build-up and it was just done for the sake of it. The controversies of Jon Snow, White Walker could have been better.
