The iconic Indian wildlife film, ‘Wild Karnataka’ is sweeping the nation on its debut as the first-ever wildlife documentary to be released in cinemas. Multiple cities in the south completely sold out for the opening weekend, and continues as it moves to its second week. while the rest of India is performing well and interest continues to rise since the initial release.Since it’s been an unprecedented widespread release of a documentary film, the popularity of the film continues to surge and set standards for others to follow in its footsteps.In association with the Karnataka Forest Department, Wild Karnataka chronicles the natural history of the Indian state of Karnataka. Over four years, the team of over 20 film-makers led by Amoghavarsha and Kalyan Varma worked with the Karnataka forest department to tell the story of ‘Wild Karnataka’ through stunning visuals. Wild Karnataka is India's first 4K blue chip natural history documentary on the rich biodiversity of the Indian state of Karnataka. The film was narrated by Sir David Attenborough with theme music composed by Grammy-winning composer and music-producer, Ricky Kej. The documentary took about 4 years to produce from more than 400 hours of footage

Speaking in light of the tremendous response to the film, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Sridhar said, “We are happy that it's a world-class film being successfully screened and in the process taking Karnataka state to the remote corners. The Karnataka Forest Department is doing its best to ensure that the film is accessible to everyone whether Indian or the people at large as its purpose has always been to educate the masses. We are also happy that the monetary returns beyond the expenditure made by the contributors will go to the Karnataka Tiger Foundation.This definitive piece of visual journalism on Karnataka’s biodiversity opened across 23 cities and 42 screens in India, marking it the first documentary in Indian film history. Since the opening weekend, PVR has added 3 times the original slated shows to the roster in South India to accommodate the growing demand for the film

Speaking in response to the overwhelming reception to the film, director Amoghavarsha said, “We couldn't have imagined the response Wild Karnataka has seen in theatres. All the love from people has been staggering. We hope this wave continues to grow as does the Wild Karnataka family.”Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Dia Mirza, Raghu Dixit, Rishabh Shetty etc have spoken about the film in glowing terms already since the premiere.
