I met the pretty actress Mugdha Godse at the location shooting at Manisha Bungalow at Madh Island of her latest film "Devil's Night'' in which she has been cat opposite none other than Govinda’s cousin brother Akash Gehrwar.

The thriller film is being produced by debutant S. Patanvi under the banner of S.P. Digital Entertainment and written and directed by debutant Ashok Jamuar.

The film is being shot at Film City and various other locations of Mumbai and after the Mumbai stint the unit will proceed to Nainital for a further spell of shooting.

Mughda initiates our conversation by telling me that she is playing the role of a model cum actress being chased by a mad and crazy boy.

“It has an eerie plot that has nothing to do with Darr but nevertheless no girl today needs a mad boy like the one I have to deal with in my film”, says Mugda who has earlier been part of a horror film like Help and also a super natural film.

Mughda adds that you get an ease as an actress when you get to play a role as a model and actress in a film like Devil’s Eye because you get to wear the best of the costumes.

Talking about her journey till date in the film industry, Mughda states that an actor always tends to feel incomplete as far as his or her journey is concerned.

“Today I wish to wake up every day and watch the crew at work on the sets. I want to practice acting sitting at home every day by practicing on my own at home and rehearsing too before leaving home for the sets.”

Mughda admits that she has developed a very good rapport with her co-actor Akash Gehrwar. “Working with Akash was good. Earlier I have also worked with his cousins Govinda as well as Krishna Abhishek too.

And I do not at all feel like I am his senior. In this industry you end up as a senior when you put in work for over ten years. I had spent 10 years in modeling and 13 years in acting.”

Talking about her director Ashok Jamuar, she says that he has a lot of experience as far as films and TV serials are concerned and he lets her interpret according to her will but at the same time also guides her when she goes astray as an actor because she feels that it is necessary especially because actors often tend to flow away.

Mughda says that she is extremely thankful to God that at a time when corona has slowed down the industry and driven all shooting schedules to a scratching halt and scared one and all, she is busy working in the film The Devil’s Eye.

Besides The Devil’s Eye, Mughda says that she has a couple of OTT projects like ‘Crime To Remember’ and also ‘Guilt’ with BBC and Applause with Shaad Ali as the director with actors like Jaideep Ahlawat and Zeshan Khan as her co-actors which keep her busy on the toes.

“I am working right now in more OTT projects than films. OTT projects have me in different roles and have helped me a lot as an actress”.

Besides films in Hindi, Mughda has also been part of quite a few films in South Indian languages including Tamil and Telugu. “Language is something which was initially difficult for me to master.

While in my school, I learnt Marathi, which happens to be my own mother tongue, in college in learnt to converse in English and ultimately when I entered Bollywood and started working in films in Hindi.

The latest language that is my new found love is Punjabi thanks to Rahul. It is difficult but I managed to lean it thanks to Rahul.

Though I have not acted in films in Malayalam or Telugu, I did act in one or two Tamil films like Thani Oruvan which gave me a good mileage down South. I am in talks with a filmmaker to act in a Marathi film too shortly.”

Mughda says that she did not stay away from TV projects though she has not acted in any TV serial till date and confesses that she would be delighted to be a part of a TV serial and does not mind tackling even negative roles because she feels that her kind of looks is considered suitable for negative looks by makers.

“What is important is that you should do good roles and you should keep on searching for roles till you have the right choices. All said and done, I’d rather keep on shooting rather than just sit at home,” she adds.

Mughda confesses that she is quite happy with the relationship that she shares with her beau actor Rahul Dev.

She adds that she is not at all bogged down by the relationship that she shares with him because being bogged down by the baggage of relationship always depends upon the kind of relationship one has with one’s partner and the relationship that she shares with him is cohesive and each one lets the other grow in his or her sphere without hindering one another’s growth.

“Rahul is a fitness freak and inspires me a lot as far as my regimen is concerned. Rahul and I do not discuss our characters though I do take advice from him on how to improve as an actor because he has done 130 films and is very experienced. We both are on a normal diet and keep inspiring each other as far as our lifestyles are concerned.”

Among the filmmakers who are in her wish list as an actor are Zoya Akhtar and Reena Kagti, as she feels the combo is a killer combination.

When asked to name five films of hers which considers her best till date, she names Fashion with which she had made her debut, Jail, Bezubaan Ishq, Help and last but not the least Guilt.

Mughda reiterates that she is very keen on to be part of female centric films as well as web series. “My male colleagues today often complain that there are 65% female oriented scripts in the market today, Arya 1 & 2 with Sushmita Sen and Aranyakwith Raveena Tandon are big hits.

There’s more scope for an actress to perform today and everyone is getting back in their own compatible zone as actors
