What was your first reaction to the show ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’?

When I heard the title Seher Hone Ko Hai, it instantly felt positive and beautiful. My character, Dr. Fareed, is exactly like that—liberal, calm, hopeful, and deeply positive. Like a lighthouse standing strong during a storm—this character gives direction. I truly believe this show will teach viewers the meaning of hope.

What does “Seher” mean to you in real life?

For everyone, “Seher” holds a different meaning. But for me, the real dawn happens when the people around you are smiling and happy. Helping someone and bringing a smile to their face is the true purpose of life—Dr. Fareed also lives by this philosophy.

How important is your character Fareed in the story?

Fareed plays a pivotal role, connected to many characters on various emotional levels—his daughter Aman, his father, Mahid, and especially Kauser. Fareed and Kauser’s bond is layered with mystery, which will gradually unfold. This character will slowly grow on the audience.

Seher Hone Ko Hai OTT

You’ve experienced TV, films, and now OTT. How do you see this evolution?

For me, the size of the screen has never mattered. Good work is good work—whether it’s on TV, OTT, or in films. The boundaries between TV actors and film actors have almost disappeared now. Talent is respected everywhere.

How do you look back at your long journey in the industry?

Both Shilpa (my wife Shilpa Saklani) and I take life very simply. We never aimed to be superstars or chase big money. Our only goal has always been to remain happy. We chose a calm and peaceful life rather than a stressful one. Many people have everything yet remain unhappy—so we chose happiness.

Did you face any struggles during the early days of your career?

I wouldn’t say I struggled too much, but shifting from the fast pace of television to the slow process of films was a cultural shock. On my very first day of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, I had to shoot 12 scenes! Still, I received so much love and warmth from people that the entire journey became easier.

How was your experience working with Parth Samthaan, Mahi Vij, and Rishita Kothari?

Wonderful. I have shot two scenes with Parth, a little with Mahi, and a few with the actress playing my daughter. The overall atmosphere is very positive. The director and the entire team are amazing.

What advice would you give to new actors?

Honestly, I learn from them! New-age actors come fully prepared. One regret I have is that I never took formal acting training. I always wanted to study at NSD (National School of Drama)… maybe someday. Training gives you a unique understanding of characters.

How has your connection with Mayapuri magazine been?

Mayapuri is more than a magazine for me—it feels like a person I’ve known forever. My father was a writer in the 80s–90s and shared a deep friendship with Mayapuri’s editor. Its presence, its fragrance, the rustle of its pages—these are all part of my childhood memories. That’s why Mayapuri feels like family. Its 50-year milestone feels like a personal celebration. My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the entire Mayapuri team!
