Known for her roles in Shadi Number One, Insaan, and appearing on MTV Roadies, actress Esha Deol is making her comeback to the film industry. She will be seen in Vikram Bhatt's upcoming movie Tumko Meri Kasam. In a recent interview, Esha talked about her character in the film, her return to cinema, her co-star Anupam Kher, and the storyline. Here's what she had to say.
You always look fit, fine, and cool. What's the secret behind your beauty?
To stay cool, I always keep my mind calm, and I practice meditation for this. When we are young, our patience levels are lower, but since becoming a mother, my patience has definitely increased. Regarding my fitness, I take great care of myself. I follow a strict routine, like going to bed early and waking up early. I also pay special attention to my diet.

We’ve seen the trailer of your upcoming film, and it's really interesting. The audience is also giving a positive response. How do you feel about the response to the trailer?
The response has been fantastic. In this film, I play the role of a defense lawyer, and it's my first time portraying such a character. I'm really excited about it. I must say that Vikram Bhatt is an exceptional director. I had worked with him before on Ankahii. Speaking of my character, it's quite challenging, but I'm grateful for the director’s detailed guidance that helped me perform well.
You’ve worked with Anupam Kher in this film. How was the experience of sharing the screen with him?
I worked with Anupam Ji in my first film as well. In this film, most of my scenes are with him. He is an outstanding actor, and there’s so much to learn from him—whether it’s in front of the camera or behind it. I’ve learned a lot about life from him.
You’re making your return to the film industry after several years. What are your thoughts on this return?
It's not that I disappeared. Over the past four years, I’ve done quite a bit of work, including web series. But yes, coming back to films is definitely a change. I believe change is good, and I’m excited about it.
Were you nervous during the making of this film?
I was first given the script, and I really liked my character. Then I found out that Vikram Bhatt was directing, which made me even more excited. It was only later that I realized the film was going to be released in theaters.

Has your mom (Hema Malini) seen the film's trailer? What did she think of it?
Yes, she watched the trailer, and she really liked it. She especially appreciated my look as the lawyer.
We’ve seen many actors portray lawyers on screen. Is there any particular portrayal you admire?
I’ve liked every lawyer character in cinema, whether it’s Amitabh Bachchan’s role in Pink or Sunny Deol's character as a lawyer. In real life too, I’ve met lawyers, and their personalities are really impressive.

How did you feel when you saw yourself in the lawyer’s uniform?
When I wore the lawyer’s coat, I truly felt the weight of the responsibility that comes with such a profession.
What do you think will change in society because of this film?
This film tells two different stories. One is about Ishwak Singh and Adah Sharma, who play characters Diya and Ajay, who open IVF centers across India. The other story revolves around me and Anupam Ji, and has a courtroom drama. The film also features many dialogues that have the potential to inspire change in society.
Tumko Meri Kasam will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025. Apart from Esha Deol, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Adah Sharma, and Ishwak Singh.
