T-Series' film 'Savi', which is releasing on 31 May, has created excitement among the people with its powerful trailer. The film shows the story of an ordinary housewife who is ready to break into England's most dangerous prison to save her husband. This story tells the story of a woman's courage and strength. The film is directed by Abhinay Dev and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar. Divya Khosla Kumar, Harshavardhan Rane, and Anil Kapoor will be seen in the lead roles in the film.
Your upcoming film 'Savi', and what would you like to say about it?
'Savi' is based on the story of Savitri, Savi's story is a modernized version of Savitri. Just like in Savitri's story, Savitri fights with Yamraj to bring back her husband, something similar will be seen in this story as well. A normal housewife who is very simple and vulnerable, how when it comes to her family, she takes the form of Shakti. She tries her best to fight and break-in into England's most dangerous prison to save her husband. This is a story of determination, courage, and power. I think every woman who watches this film will see herself in Savi and Savi in herself. This is a family film, there is a thriller in it too, so the audience will enjoy watching it.
When you play a character that inspires people, what kind of preparation do you do for it? The way you are seen in this film, the audience has not seen you in such a style before, what would you like to say about it?
The challenge for me is to choose such characters that challenge me and force me to think and that character has something for me to do. My preparation for any character is that I become that character. I try to make my performance such that my character does not resemble my other characters. In the film 'Yaariyan' that came before this film, I was playing the character of Ladli, who was a bubbly character, the character of 'Savi' is completely different from that, there will be no glimpse of Ladli in Savi. I try to get into that character so much by the time I reach the set that I can feel that I am that character. When you do this, you can feel the emotions of that character and those emotions come out from within you, and you end up doing something during the scene that you cannot believe.
There has been a lot of change in cinema, now is a time when women-centric films are coming. What would you like to say about this change in cinema?
I think this is a matter of great pride for women. In the 90s, making women-centric films was a far-fetched idea, no one even talked about it. Nowadays women-centric films are being made and the credit for this also goes to the audience because the audience is the parents. Because if the audience is coming to the theatre to watch a woman-centric film, then such stories are also being written. I think in the end it is just a story because anyone can be in the lead in the story. When we read a story in a book, then we do not think whether it is woman-centric or male-centric. Now a lot has changed for women. Nowadays there are more girls than boys in every field. This is a matter of great pride and this is a right step in the right direction.
In an interview, you said that being ambitious is everyone's right, even if she is a housewife. What would you like to say about this?
In that interview, I was asked this question, "What is the biggest problem a woman faces?" To this, I said that the biggest problem a woman faces is that if she is ambitious then people judge her very wrongly. They believe that if a woman is ambitious it means that she has a bad relationship with her family, or she is choosing the wrong path to move forward in her career. If a woman is ambitious then many accusations are made against her, but on the other hand, if a man is ambitious then he is encouraged to move forward. Even today in our society a strong and ambitious woman is not accepted. I think we need to change this thing, only then will women get equal rights in our society. I believe that every person has the right to explore his/her life to his/her full potential, whether he/she is a man or a woman.
Would you like to share some memories related to Mayapuri magazine?
My photo has also appeared on its cover. I am from Delhi, so I know that Mayapuri is also a magazine from there. I have met Bajaj ji, the owner of Mayapuri, many times in Delhi events. I have a very good connection with Mayapuri. Mayapuri is a very good magazine which used to be thin, long, and big, which was very fun to read.
What would you like to say to your fans?
I would like to say that 'Savi' is a very good thriller film which is releasing in theatres on 31 May. In the film, you will get to see how a normal housewife breaks the most dangerous jail in England. And how she moves forward in her mission while avoiding all the armed guards and CCTV cameras. There is a lot of thrill in the picture and Anil ji's character brings humor to the film.
