‘Gharwali Pedwali’: Seerat Kapoor Calls Savi a Completely Different and Challenging Character

Actress Seerat Kapoor is appearing on television for the first time in the supernatural comedy show ‘Gharwali Pedwali’. In this show, she is seen as Savi—a modern, innocent, and love-filled girl who enters an unusual family in Banaras after an arranged marriage. In a conversation with Mayapuri Magazine journalist Shilpa Nalamwar, Seerat spoke in detail about her character, the show’s concept, and her experiences on set. Here’s what she had to say.

What kind of character is Savi in ‘Gharwali Pedwali’?

My character Savi is completely different from anything I have done so far. She is the only daughter of her parents and has been brought up with a lot of love and care. After an arranged marriage, she comes as a new daughter-in-law to a family in Banaras, where everything is new for her. She is very sweet, innocent, soft-spoken, and sensitive.

How is Savi’s personality different from the rest of the family members?

Savi is modern and has a Gen Z mindset. She is tech-savvy, does Zumba, and doesn’t know how to cook. In the family, one mother-in-law is very traditional and believes strongly in customs, while the other has a modern outlook and becomes Savi’s favorite. There are two fathers, a grandfather who uses a wheelchair, and an aunt with her own agendas. In such a setup, Savi tries to understand everyone and keep everyone happy.

Was playing this character challenging for you?

Yes, absolutely. Savi is very different from my real personality, so I had to work hard to portray her. I had to understand her innocence, simplicity, and sensitivity and bring those emotions naturally on screen.

How has your experience been being part of a comedy show?

This is my first comedy show. Comedy may look easy on screen, but it is actually very difficult. Timing and delivering the punch correctly are extremely important. I have learned a lot by observing my co-actors. Everyone on the set is very supportive, and no one makes you feel alone.

How has your experience been working with Paras Arora and Priyamvada Kant?

Watching Paras Arora work always motivates me. Whether it’s one take or ten takes, he brings the same energy every single time. I’ve learned from him that no scene should ever be done half-heartedly.
As for Priyamvada Kant, who plays Latika, her hard work is truly commendable. Working on a harness, delivering different kinds of laughter, and giving her all in every scene—her dedication is truly next level. Watching her inspires me to push myself and take on new challenges.

How different is the concept of supernatural comedy?

I haven’t really seen a supernatural comedy concept like this on television before. It’s very risky, and you can’t afford to do anything half-heartedly. Our writers and makers have paid close attention to every detail so that nothing feels incomplete or careless.

How will your entry as a bride be shown in the series?

My entry is actually my favorite part. In the show, the bride enters riding a horse, which beautifully conveys the message that girls are no less than anyone. Jeetu, played by Paras Arora, is a green-flag husband—he is supportive, motivating, and proud of his wife.

We have made this show with a lot of hard work and love, and we have enjoyed it even more. This show will give you a sense of comfort and relief. I would request everyone to definitely watch it and not miss out.
