Harsh Beniwal, Gagan Arora, and Anud Singh Dhaka from ‘Lafange’ Gave an Exclusive Interview to Mayapuri

Some time ago, the web series ‘Lafange’ starring Harsh Beniwal, Gagan Arora, Anud Singh Dhaka, Saloni Gaur, and Barkha Singh was released on Amazon MX Player. Recently, Mayapuri journalist Shilpa Patil met with the star cast of ‘Lafange’. In this conversation, they spoke about the theme of the series, friendship, their struggles to make a mark in the industry, and why audiences should watch this web series.

• ‘Lafange’ isn’t just a story of friendship—it’s also about dreams, struggles, and responsibilities. How will this series connect with audiences?

Gagan: This story reflects our personal journey, yet it feels very universal. Life after college—when real responsibilities begin, the search for a job, facing failures—that’s where people will relate deeply.

Harsh: Every character has a different direction. One wants to pursue a creative field, another aims for a corporate job, and a third hasn’t even cleared their exams yet. These are three distinct reflections of society.

• There’s a dialogue in the series that says, “This world is a ruthless world.” What’s your take on that?

Anud: That’s the truth. The world is indeed ruthless—especially when you’re giving it your all, but getting nothing in return. When you’re unemployed, society labels you a ‘lafanga’ (loafer). That’s the essence of this show.

• In the series, you’re seen asking for something from God. Have you ever done something like that in real life?

Harsh: Yes, when I was in class 10, I observed 40 consecutive Tuesdays of fasting. It was a difficult time, but I made every effort with full devotion. My mom still believes that wherever I am today, it’s because of that faith.
Gagan: For me, passing math in my 12th boards was a big prayer. I used to visit temples, churches, gurdwaras—everywhere—to pray.

• What kind of struggles did you face while making a name in the industry?

Anud: My friends played the biggest role in my journey. Without them, I probably wouldn’t have made it. Their support gave me the strength to survive in this city.
Gagan: I owe my entire career to OTT platforms. They gave me new opportunities, new identities, and a variety of roles.
Harsh: I don’t think of it as a struggle. I enjoyed it fully. I used to shoot during the day and edit at night. While my friends partied, I worked—and I loved every bit of it.

• With so many OTT options available today, why should viewers watch ‘Lafange’?

Gagan: Because this story is everyone’s story. It’s about friendship, dreams, failures—something every individual can relate to. It’s a show for those who may not afford a Goa trip, but still dream of living fully—even if it’s just from a rooftop.
