Highway Love: An Interview with Rithvik Sahore and Gayatri Bhardwaj

Following the immense success of "Highway Love 1," the much-anticipated Season 2 is now streaming on Amazon and MX Player. In this season, Rithvik Sahore and Gayatri Bhardwaj reprise their roles, navigating the challenges of a long-distance relationship. In light of the new season, they sat down with Maya Puri for an exclusive interview.

Rithvik and Gayatri Discuss Long-Distance Love Challenges

OTT platforms have grown tremendously, and getting a second season for a specific series is a significant achievement. How do you perceive the appreciation and love from the audience?

Gayatri- We’re receiving even more love than from the first season. People are connecting with our characters; perhaps that's why they’ve joined us on this journey. They send us messages expressing their disappointment with the ending and asking why things happened that way. I'm grateful that they have so much faith in our story—it resonates with them.

Rithvik- Absolutely! There’s no better feeling than when viewers believe in these characters. They often tell us, "You shouldn’t have done that; it happened to you."

Personally, how has the journey of Season 2 been for you? How satisfied are you with how the writers have developed your characters?

Rithvik- The story has evolved in Season 2. Our relationship has progressed to a long-distance setup—Gayatri is in India while I’m in Spain. Things get complicated, and I throw a curveball that shakes up her life.
Gayatri-  Often in stories, we see the boy and girl meet, and that’s the end. But the real story begins after that, especially in a long-distance relationship. Season one had a lighter tone, but now it’s essential to showcase the realities of maintaining a relationship, especially when distances come into play. We needed to show the truth, which isn’t always pleasant.

What do you consider the highlight of this season?

Gayatri- New characters have joined the story, making it even more interesting. Their presence reflects that relationships involve more than just two people; many others play a role in our lives. You don’t just live with your partner; there are many others around you.
Rithvik- For me, the introduction of new characters is the best part. This season, my new business partners come into play, and we all share a great bond. We eat together and have fun like a family.

What do you think are the essential elements for maintaining a relationship, especially considering how challenging it can be today?

Gayatri- My parents have been together for 30 years. It’s not that they haven’t had conflicts, but they’ve worked through things. It's important to manage the relationship. Nowadays, people get bored quickly and give up, which wasn’t the case before.
Rithvik- I don’t believe in old-school love being perfect. No couple is without disagreements, but it’s crucial to keep trying. As long as there’s love in your heart, make an effort. Just don’t let it feel like you’re solely focused on that person.

Having completed "Jamuna Paar," what are your future plans with "Highway Love 2"?

Rithvik- The love I received from "Jamuna Paar" was overwhelming, and it made me reflect on my next steps. I’m excited to see what plans unfold.
Gayatri- This year, I have three projects—two have been released, and one is yet to come. I feel I’ve learned a lot this year. Sometimes, when I watch my work on screen, I think about how I could have done that scene better, and I note my shortcomings. I prefer to work on my skills before moving on to another project.

What would you like to say to your fans?

Rithvik-  I want to thank them. Thank you all for watching our show despite the abundance of content out there. We love receiving your reels.
