Recently, popular Indian singing reality show Indian Idol Season 15 contestants Anirudh Suswaram, Biswarup Banerjee, and Ritika Raj had an exclusive chat with Shilpa Patil, a journalist from Maya Puri Magazine. During this interview, they shared their experiences on the Indian Idol stage and spoke about the upcoming Jitendra Special episode.
The journey of Indian Idol has now progressed quite far. As contestants, how are you enjoying this journey?
Anirudh: I’ve now gotten used to enjoying the show and taking on its challenges. You’ll see a lot more of that in the next couple of months.
Biswarup: Anirudh mentioned taking on challenges, but I believe that beyond challenges, the time we’ve spent together here, and the memories of that, will stay with us long after we leave.
Ritika: This journey demands a lot from us. The first and foremost challenge is maintaining mental stability. Because when you're in this setup, where every week you have to give your best, it’s not easy. We’re in a field filled with so many great singers who have practiced for years and learned so much. So, we have to make sure our foundation is strong. If we’re not mentally strong, it can affect us deeply. Along the way, we also learn that we have to remain grounded and stay true to ourselves. There are times when we get used to seeing our fanbase or seeing ourselves on TV repeatedly. Our mind starts to blur the line between reality and illusion, and we tend to get overconfident. But, in the end, we’re still students of music. Once we leave this stage, a new journey begins, and we’ll have to start from level 1 again. Indian Idol is teaching us how to stay rooted and how to grow as singers. When I look back at what I sang in the auditions, and now, I’m singing songs that challenge me. I feel proud to see my own growth. Don’t think too much about the future; whatever you’re doing right now, be proud of yourself.
Many artists from the Bollywood film industry have revisited the show, and you’ve sung in front of them. Is there any special moment that stands out for you, something unforgettable?
Biswarup: Our show has seen many actors, singers, and music directors come and grace us with their presence. We’re very fortunate to have the opportunity to sing in front of them. But if you ask me, I feel that the real goddess of music, Shreya Ghoshal ma’am, is with us every day. Sometimes, when we see the same thing repeatedly, we forget the true value of it. We see her daily, but when we return to our rooms and reflect on it, we realize how lucky we are to sing in front of her. Besides, there was a moment when I had the opportunity to sing two lines with Shreya ma’am. That moment will stay with me for a lifetime.
Ritika: When I think about who I’ve sung in front of, it’s unbelievable. Today, I’ve put Shreya Ghoshal ma’am’s photo on my WhatsApp status. I just keep imagining the kind of gift I’m receiving. What could be a bigger gift than spending time with her? This will never come back in my life. The best moment for me was when I got to attend Shreya ma’am’s concert. As a child, you dream of these moments, and suddenly, they come true. Also, I’m deeply grateful to Indian Idol for honoring my parents. I’m truly thankful that my father, mother, and brother got the chance to come on such a big platform.
Anirudh: I’m eagerly looking forward to the moment when I get to sing on stage with Shreya ma’am and Vishal sir. I might even rap with Badshah sir. He can do it in Hindi, and I can do it in my language!
In the upcoming episodes, Jeetendra ji will be making an appearance. He will surely be a hit with the audience. What are your thoughts on that?
Biswarup: Jeetendra ji is timeless! We are extremely excited to sing his songs in front of him. I urge everyone to watch that episode because it will feature some fantastic songs. Whenever we arrive late for the shoot, we feel exhausted. But when he shows up, his energy is just as strong as ever.
Anirudh: Jeetendra sir is 82 years old, but his energy is still greater than ours. When you see him on TV, make sure you don’t miss it. His charm is still undeniable. We were all stunned by his presence.
Ritika: For the upcoming episode, something happened on set that will leave you shocked. You’ll have to watch the show to know what it was. I truly hope that the audience watches it. Also, I’ve learned from this episode the importance of never losing hope.
We’re excited to watch your performances and your journey. What would you like to say to your fans and the audience who have supported you throughout?
Biswarup: Right now, we’re singing in front of the judges, but soon, it will be the bigger stage. We’ll be performing for the audience. Thank you for all the love and support you’ve given us so far. Once we leave this stage and take our music to the world, please keep that love and support alive. For now, keep watching our show every Saturday at 8:30 PM.
Anirudh: I’m truly grateful for all the love I’ve received so far. Please continue to support us, and keep watching us!
