'Indian Idol 15' has now come to an end, and the winner of the show is Manasi Ghosh. Recently, Mayapuri's journalist Shilpa Patil sat down with Manasi Ghosh for an exclusive interview.
Manasi Opens Up on Her Win, Judges & Future Dreams
In this conversation, Manasi shared insights about her journey on the show, her experiences with the judges, the significance of her win as a female after many years, and her dreams for the future. Here’s what she had to say:
- What would you like to say about this victory? Coming on Indian Idol is a dream for many singers, and you’ve turned that dream into reality by winning the trophy. How would you describe this journey?
For me, this journey has been magical. I am incredibly grateful and thankful. Everything about this journey has been so wonderful. I have no complaints because it has truly been a magical experience for me. I have enjoyed every moment, and now I am simply overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received.
- When you reached the finale, what was going through your mind? How confident did you feel at that point?
From day one, I wanted to be a finalist. I kept telling myself, "Manasi, work hard and make sure you reach the finale." But beyond that, I never really thought about winning the trophy. My main goal was to receive the love of the audience. I wanted to sing for them and make sure they loved what I was doing. Thankfully, I received that love, and for that, I am very thankful.
- During the show, you sang in different styles and surprised the judges with your experiments. Did you ever feel that these experiments might not work?
Our mentor, Anand Sharma, always gave us ideas, and it was our responsibility to execute them. He gave me the confidence to understand what should and shouldn’t be done. If he said something was good, I trusted him, and if he said it wasn’t right, I knew not to go ahead with it. I feel lucky to have had such a guru to guide me.
- How was your experience with the judges, and how do you look back at this journey? We saw many fun moments between you and the judges like Badshah and Shreya Ji. What do you think of them?
My experience with the judges was amazing. We enjoyed every performance. Their feedback and comments were always spot on. Shreya Ma’am, Vishal Sir, and Badshah Sir are three musical maestros of India, sitting right in front of us, judging us. Just the fact that I got to hear them every day and listen to their music was a huge achievement for me. They are incredible, and I feel blessed to have learned so much from them. I hope I can work with them in the future.
- You had the opportunity to work with Lalit Sir and Shaan during the show. What was that experience like?
Lalit Sir is so sweet! I didn’t feel nervous at all when I went into the studio. When I heard the track, it felt just perfect for me. The song was beautiful, and I truly enjoyed singing it. I learned so much from the experience. Working with him was such a pleasure, and I left the studio with a happy heart.
- How proud do you feel about being the female winner of Indian Idol after so many years?
This is the best question! Indian Idol has been running for 20 years, and there have only been two female winners. That’s unbelievable! I feel so proud of this achievement. I think it’s a historic moment. If another girl had won instead of me, I would have been just as happy. But now that I am here, it feels incredible. I am genuinely happy.
- What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
When my name was announced, I was completely blank. I didn’t know how to react, but I am so thankful. Shubhujit, who was standing next to me, was the first one to hug me. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I had no idea how to react, but that moment felt so magical. The second moment I remember is when I saw my aunt crying loudly, and my parents were so happy. It was all so overwhelming, and I can’t remember much else, but I was filled with happiness.
- You are about to go on a UK tour, which is very exciting. What are your thoughts on that?
I am very excited for the UK tour! I am looking forward to performing everywhere and doing it beautifully. I want to connect with the audience and sing my heart out. I am fully prepared for this tour, and if I had the choice between staying at home or going on the tour, I would choose the tour without a doubt.
- Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
I would love to sing with Badshah Sir. I also want to sing in Vishal Dadlani Sir's compositions. I have many dreams, and I hope they come true in the future. I would also love to work with Priyanka Chopra.
- How do you plan to use the prize money from your win on the show?
I plan to use the prize money to fulfill my dreams, especially to create my own music. I want to compose and sing beautiful songs, and this prize money will help me move closer to that goal.
- Lastly, what would you like to say to your fans?
I just want to say that you all are my family. Every word of love and support you have given me is the reason I am here as a winner today. I am truly grateful to you, to God, to my family, and to my team. I hope you continue to support me in the future. My new song is coming soon, and I hope you all listen to it and bless me so I can create even more beautiful music for you.
