Bigg Boss 16 contestant and TV actress Sumbul Touqeer is now playing Anvita Divekar in Sony SAB’s Itti Si Khushi. Her character is a young woman who tries to keep her family united. Congratulations! Your character and the show are receiving immense love from the audience. How do you feel about this response?

First of all, it feels amazing. We worked very hard—so many readings, briefings, and preparations went into this. I always had faith in the show and was eagerly waiting for the TRPs. In the promotions, you did a stand-up comedy act, and you looked like a professional comedian! How did you prepare for it?

Honestly, it was a surprise for me. I didn’t even know I was supposed to perform stand-up. I only got the script once I left home, and it was 7–8 minutes long. We did the master shot in just two takes, followed by the close-ups. The entire sequence was shot in about three hours. Actress Sonali Bendre also praised the show in a post. How did that feel?

That was a huge moment for me. I’ve watched so many of her films and have always been her fan. For such a big star to post about our show—it was truly a wonderful experience.

What’s the atmosphere like on set?

The atmosphere on set is amazing. Everyone works really hard, but at the same time, we have so much fun and laughter in between that the stress never really feels heavy. That’s what makes working even more enjoyable. (Itti Si Khushi Sumbul Touqeer drama)

Recently, the storyline showed lies and heartbreak in Anvita and Virat’s love story. What’s your take on this?

I personally don’t like lies at all; I never lie myself. That’s why I find this track very relatable. Such issues often arise in relationships. The show beautifully depicts how people deal with these situations and how two people can come together again. That’s the real beauty of it.

What kind of compliments are you receiving from the audience?

I read a lot of comments. Usually, with shows, people say things like “We feel bad for her.” But here, I see comments like “This has happened to me too” or “This could happen in my life as well.” That’s the biggest success for me—that the audience is able to see themselves in the story. In your personal life, who supports you the most?

My father and my sister—they are my biggest supporters.
