Jayati Bhatia, who played the role of Fatto in the web series Heeramandi, is a well-known name in the TV industry. She is all set to return to television with Zee TV's upcoming show "Jane Anjane Hum Mile", where she will be seen in a negative role as Sharda Suryavanshi. Alongside her, Bharat Ahlawat and Ayushi Khurana also star in the show. Jayati recently had an exclusive chat with Maya Puri Magazine where she discussed the show’s concept, her character, and her on-screen bonding with Bharat and Ayushi.

The show depicts the Aata-Sata tradition. What would you like to say about it?

This tradition is very old. You must have seen for centuries how daughters from one royal family would be sent to another family, where they would be married off. This has been seen in many places. Even today, it’s heard that this tradition still exists in Rajasthan, MP, and UP. However, I came to know the name Aata-Sata through this show. The term Aata-Sata immediately gives you an idea that it’s a kind of exchange system, a deal. I’m from Karol Bagh, Delhi, and I’ve seen several such marriages. Now, I’m getting a chance to live this out on screen.

What’s different about your role in this show compared to the iconic characters you’ve played on television?

In this show, I’m playing the role of a bua (aunt), and she is exactly like the kind of bua you find in every house. She looks very sweet and loving on the outside, but behind your back, she speaks badly about you. My character hides a lot of secrets. She raised Raghav with her own interests in mind. She’s done a SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) with a long-term perspective, meaning she’s not expecting immediate returns; she’s playing the long game. She’ll benefit later, and that’s what her true intentions are.

Do you think Rith, the woman who is about to marry Raghav, will challenge your character?

I, that is, Sharda Suryavanshi, don’t want Rith to marry Raghav. First of all, I don’t like the idea of girls working outside the home. The kind of strength and satisfaction you get from running a family cannot be found outside. So, no, I don’t want Rith to come into this house. My character will have a significant role to play in the lives of all these characters.

How is your bonding off-screen with your co-stars Bharat and Ayushi?

The most interesting thing was that both Raghav and I are Leos. When we met for the third time, I was filling out a form, and Bharat said, "Ma'am, you are also a Leo." I said, "Yes." He then added, "That’s why we’re bonding." We had just met for the third time, and he was already thinking that I was bonding with him. I guess everything was falling into place. This bond will definitely be visible on-screen too, and because of this bond, our scenes turned out so well. When Rith and Raghav have scenes together, there’s so much attitude, and it makes them really enjoyable to watch. I’m getting along well with both of them, and they are such lovely people.

Your fans will also be excited to see you. Do you have a message for them?

I’d like to tell all our viewers to make sure you don’t go anywhere on November 11! Just stay tuned to Zee TV and watch us in "Jane Anjane Hum Mile". Please shower lots of love on Sharda Suryavanshi. I want you to say, “Here comes bua, and we don’t know what she’s going to do next!” when my character appears on screen.
