This series has a very interesting concept. What can the audience expect from it?

Mona Singh: Thode Door Thode Paas is a story full of nostalgia. It tries to reconnect people in a world where real connections are getting lost. Today, our strings are not tied to hearts but to Wi-Fi. The show’s core idea is “digital detox.” Just put your phone aside for a while, look at your loved ones, talk to them. Sometimes we just need to pause and reflect on where we are heading — because the people who truly love you aren’t on your screen; they’re sitting right in front of you. That’s the real strength of this show.

What is your character like, and how does digital fasting affect him?

Kunaal Roy Kapur: My character is an astrologer and numerologist whose entire life depends on technology — his charts, his meetings, everything is computerized. But because of that same technology, he’s become emotionally distant from his family. He’s lost touch with his wife and kids. Over time, he learns that sometimes “disconnecting” is the only way to truly reconnect.

Tell us a bit about your character and her journey in the story

Mona Singh: Simi is a middle-class woman who balances her home and career. She’s a designer but has become so dependent on digital tools that she’s forgotten how to sketch by hand. When her family takes on the digital detox challenge, she’s the first one to struggle. Managing everything without technology, worrying about her kids, handling her husband — it’s a roller-coaster ride full of emotions, drama, and love.

On-screen, your character practices digital fasting — but do you follow digital detox in real life?

Kunaal Roy Kapur: Honestly, not really. I spend 3–4 hours a day on my phone — Instagram, YouTube, everything. But now I do feel guilty about it. This show made me think about setting boundaries. It’s fine to stay connected to some extent, but if your phone starts controlling your life, that’s when you need to stop.

Your dialogue — “How will we live without technology?” — reflects today’s reality. Do you think audiences will relate to that question?

Mona Singh: Absolutely. I think everyone will ask themselves that question — can we really live without technology? But by the end of the show, people will realize that there was a time when we lived without mobile phones — and we were actually happier. Now, people look for happiness inside their phones, and that’s the real problem.

Mona Singh: Disconnect from your gadgets to reconnect with your family.
