'Bigg Boss 18' is back to entertain the audience, and this time, actress Naira Banerjee is also a part of the show. Before entering the show, Naira had a special conversation with ‘Mayapuri Magazine’, where she discussed the contestants, her preparations for the show, and the tips she received from her friends and former Bigg Boss contestants.
Your name has come up for Bigg Boss several times before, but the timing didn’t work out then. What about now?
Naira- Previously, I was busy shooting. When I got the offer for Bigg Boss, I was filming for ‘Divya Drishti’. The second time, I was also tied up with my shooting schedule. Moreover, I hadn’t watched the show, so I wasn’t prepared for it. However, last year, I had the choice between ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and Bigg Boss. I chose ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ because I wanted to experience adventure, which I love. My father was very adventurous. Later, when Bigg Boss came up again, I was still busy with shoots. But after watching Aishwarya on the show, I got excited about the concept. My friends also encouraged me to do Bigg Boss, so here I am!
You have friends who have previously participated in Bigg Boss, like Shiv who won Marathi Bigg Boss. They must have given you some tips. What are those?
Naira- Yes, Shiv, Aishwarya, Archana, Nishant, Jiya, and Paras Chhabra are all my friends who have been on Bigg Boss. Some have had good experiences, while others said their personalities changed, and they moved ahead in life. Some even faced anxiety. It depends on how you handle yourself and how you move forward in life. I’ve drawn inspiration from the good experiences and made myself stronger.
What specific tips did Shiv and the others give you?
Naira- Shiv told me that I don’t need to do much—just be myself, put on some makeup, and be loud! Nishant encouraged me, saying that I should go to Bigg Boss because I’ll learn a lot. Paras said I would tear everyone apart! But I’ll try not to treat this as pressure; I just want to come out as a winner.
Sometimes, we see contestants become conscious about their image and struggle to express themselves. Controversies arise, and people start judging them. How prepared are you for all this?
Naira- I believe that where there is good, there is also bad. Bigg Boss offers some good experiences, but there are also challenges. How you react to these situations is in your hands, and that’s your true personality. If I can handle both aspects, that would be great. You should have confidence in your ability to manage every situation.
In Bigg Boss, you also have to do household chores. Are you ready for that?
Naira- I am the daughter of a military officer. Since childhood, I’ve had to do all kinds of work. My brother and I shared the chores equally, and we were disciplined about it. If one of us did a good job, we were praised; if not, we both got scolded. This is how I was raised, with an emphasis on equality. I hope this upbringing will help me in the house.
Family is very important, but the Bigg Boss house is isolated from the outside world, and you can’t use your phone. How ready are you for that?
Naira- I know that, but I haven’t thought much about it yet. I’ve been so busy packing that it hasn’t crossed my mind. And what’s there to think about? I’m going to a place that will only be a small part of my life, but if I take it seriously, it could change my life completely. I know I’ll miss certain things, but I can’t let that stop me from moving forward.
It’s interesting that you did ‘Pishachini’ and Nia did ‘Suhagan Chudail’, and now both of you are on the same show. What do you think about that?
Naira- We’ve both played similar characters, so we will definitely meet and say ‘hi’ to each other. I’ll go straight up and talk to her, especially since everyone thinks there will be a clash between us. Let’s see if that happens!
What would you like to say about Salman sir?
Naira- I’m excited to see him. It’s been years since I last saw him, and I’m both excited and nervous. Let’s see how it goes. I’ll try to establish a good rapport with him, and I hope to do well in the show. I also hope he appreciates my efforts.
You’ve done various shows on TV, and now you’re participating in Bigg Boss. What would you like to say to your fans?
Naira- I need your support. It’s very important to me. I might get lost or feel stagnant; anything can happen. I just need your backing. If you trust me, please vote for me. I will do my best to entertain and inspire you every time.
