O’ Romeo Was a Big Learning Experience for Me Working with Shahid Kapoor — Tripti Dimri

Having carved a distinct identity with films like Bulbbul and Qala, Tripti Dimri is now starring opposite Shahid Kapoor in filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest film O Romeo, which released on 13 February 2026. The film also features Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. In a recent interview, Tripti spoke candidly about the film, her character, and her experience working with Shahid Kapoor.

When you first heard the script of O’ Romeo, what was going through your mind? And who told you about the film first?

I received a call from Vishal sir and went to meet him at his office. I was already very excited because I had always wanted to work with him. When he narrated the story, I immediately felt that it was something different. I connected deeply not just with the story, but also with my character, Afsha.
From that day until the final shoot, the entire journey was beautiful. Some films make you wish the journey would never end. O’ Romeo was that kind of film for me.

You’ve said you learned a lot from Shahid. As a co-actor, which of his qualities inspire you the most?

It’s difficult to limit it to just two qualities. But first and foremost, his discipline. He is a perfectionist. If he feels a scene can be done better, he keeps working on it until he is fully satisfied. Secondly, he brings something new to every take. It never feels repetitive. This automatically elevates the performance of the actor working opposite him. Most importantly, he makes his co-actors feel secure and relaxed. I learned a great deal from him, both as an actor and as a human being.

How was your journey from your first meeting with Shahid to actually working together?

We first met during script readings. At that time, everyone was completely focused on the script and the characters. There was no question of judging anyone — the attention was purely on the work.

You both share a common connection with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and fans on social media want to see Kabir Singh in Animal Park. What’s your take on that fan demand?

When audiences remember a character for such a long time and want to see it again, it shows that the character has truly stayed in their hearts.

Fans are saying that if Animal Park is made, Kabir Singh should appear in it. What would you say?

(Laughs) Fans’ wishes are always interesting. It’s all love from the audience, but such decisions completely depend on the creators.

What would you like to say to the audience about O’ Romeo?

I would just like to request the audience to watch the film with an open heart. It’s an intense, emotional, and different kind of story.
