Recently, Poulomi gave an interview where she talked about her role in Dulhaniya Beediwali, her career, her experience on Bigg Boss, working with ALT Balaji again, and collaborating with Ekta Kapoor, among other topics. Here's what she had to say.

  • As soon as your journey in Bigg Boss ended, your reels, craziness, and interviews started flooding everywhere. Now, with Dulhaniya Beediwali, you've given the audience another blast. What kind of responses have you received?

The show has just been released, so it takes a little time for people to react. I think in a few weeks, we will have a better understanding of the audience’s expectations and reactions. Still, it has been great working with ALT again. The last time I worked with them was in 2021. Even though I’ve done shows with Balaji like Naagin, it was really exciting to return to the old zone and work with the same team after so many years. It’s been a great experience.

  • The tagline of the show, Dulhaniya Beediwali, is very interesting. What can you tell us about it?

Well, they made me smoke a lot of beedis by mistake. Normally, smoking scenes are faked, but in this case, it wasn’t looking right. Initially, I was pretending, but then the editor said, "It’s not convincing; you need to actually smoke." I said, "I can’t do that. The taste is so bad, and even after smoking, my mouth stays bitter for hours." So, they told me to do it once or twice, and they would edit it. This was the first and last time I smoked a beedi. After this, I’m never doing it again!

  • Can you tell us more about your character in Dulhaniya Beediwali? We've heard that your character just scares people.

Honestly, I’m not sure how to define my character. Is she a ghost, a spirit, or something else? But it’s definitely something I haven’t done before. The story is very interesting, with lots of twists and turns that will unfold as you watch the show. I think the audience will definitely enjoy it.

  • How was your experience working with Ekta Kapoor?

Ekta Ma’am is a sweetheart. I have a lot of respect for her. She is one of the best producers to work with. I’ve worked with many producers, but Ekta Ma’am stands out.

  • There’s a saying that working with Ekta Kapoor requires a lot of effort and involves controversies. What’s your take on that?

That’s completely untrue. Ekta Ma’am is extremely creative, and there’s no need to flatter her. She knows exactly who will fit into her show. When she feels that I can play a character well, she’ll call me, and I don’t need to butter her up. She has been in this industry for so many years, so there’s no need to teach her anything. She knows exactly what she’s doing and is great at her job.

  • You've done almost every type of show. What kind of shows do you enjoy doing the most?

I enjoy doing all kinds of shows; I can do anything. But if I had to choose, I’d love to play a detective. I’ve never done that before, and I really enjoy investigating things in my real life. So, I think that’s something I’d like to explore now.

  • We’ve been watching you since 2016. What’s the difference between the Poulomi of then and now?

I’ve definitely matured over the years. When I started my career, I was very young, around 19 or 20. At that age, your personality is different. Now, after 9 years, I feel that I’m still the same at my core with the same values, but I’m more mature now.

  • In the future, which actor or director would you like to work with?

I’d love to work with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. I’d also love to collaborate with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sudeep Sarkar.

  • How did Bigg Boss change your life? And who do you keep in touch with from the show?

Bigg Boss made me famous. When you participate in a show that airs for 16-17 weeks, you get popular. I stay in touch with Chandrika, Manisha, Sana Sultana, and Deepika from the show.

What message would you like to give to your audience?
I would like to tell my audience to definitely watch my new show Dulhaniya Beediwali and show it your love.

Poulomi Das' show Dulhaniya Beediwali has been streaming on ALT Balaji (ALTT) from March 9th.
