Zee TV"s latest fiction show, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab is a heartwarming tale that brings to life the unspoken sacrifices of homemakers and their quiet strength in shaping their family"s future. Anchored around Avani Trivedi, played by Rajashree Thakur, a 42-year-old housewife from Kanpur, the show highlights her extraordinary journey of stepping beyond her role as a homemaker to actively contribute towards her family"s dream of owning a bigger home. The story sends a powerful message: “Jo ghar sambhaal sakti hai, woh ghar chala bhi sakti hai aur bana bhi sakti hai.” Determined to support her family"s dream of a bigger home, Avani decides to revive an old skill and step out into the world. But will her family stand by her in this new endeavor? Here's what Rajashree has to say about her role and character: After 15 years, you"re returning to Zee TV with Bas Itna Sa Khwaab. How does it feel to be back, and what drew you to this project? It feels incredible to be back on Zee TV after 15 long years—it"s like coming home once again after a long holiday and I feel blessed that they chose me for such an important show. It is the heartwarming and relatable story that drew me to Bas Itna Sa Khwaab and I must mention that like me, Avani"s journey will resonate with countless homemakers whose contributions often go unnoticed but are invaluable. The narrative is powerful, and the message it sends about the strength and capabilities of women is something I deeply connect with. I think it felt like the perfect project to mark my return to the channel and hence, I came on board as soon as they narrated the story. Avani Trivedi's story reflects the sacrifices and contributions of housewives. What message do you hope the audience takes away from her journey? A. I hope the audience realizes that a homemaker"s work goes far beyond the visible tasks—they are the backbone of their families. Avani"s journey is about making others see the value of her role while she steps out to fulfil her family"s dream. The key takeaway is that homemakers, while being the pillars of their households, have the strength and capability to achieve so much more, even beyond their homes. The message is simple yet profound: “Jo ghar sambhaal sakti hai, woh ghar chala bhi sakti hai aur bana bhi sakti hai.” What challenges did you face while preparing for the role of a 42-year-old homemaker from Kanpur? A. Stepping into Avani"s shoes was an interesting challenge. I had to adapt her mindset— Portraying a homemaker from Kanpur also meant I needed to understand her lingo, her body language, and her daily struggles and translate all of that on the screen. It was a process of unlearning my perspective and fully embracing hers. While it was challenging, I feel every step of this journey has been rewarding. This role is very different from what you"ve done in the past. How did you prepare for it, and did it bring any personal realizations about homemakers? A. To prepare for the role of Avani, I observed the lives of several homemakers closely—their routines, their emotions, and the way they balance everything with grace. I heard their stories and spoke to them about several nuances that I wanted to adapt. I also worked on adapting the dialect and nuances of people I met in Kanpur during my shoot to make Avani"s character more authentic. This role truly made me realize just how much homemakers sacrifice daily, often without expecting any acknowledgment, making me appreciate their silent strength and resilience even more. Do you believe the portrayal of housewives on Indian television has evolved over the years? A. Yes, it certainly has. Earlier, housewives were often portrayed in very stereotypical roles, but today, there"s a conscious effort to show their multifaceted personalities. They"re being depicted as strong, aspirational individuals with dreams of their own, just like Avani. This evolution reflects the changing dynamics of our society, where women are being recognized not just as homemakers but as individuals with immense potential.
