This year, a new face has joined the ITA Awards—none other than the beautiful Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon. Recently, she received the "Bravery Award" at the National Quality Awards 2024. During a press conference held in Delhi, Raveena was accompanied by Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan, where she shared her views on the awards process and its significance for the well-being of artists, and she also answered questions from the media. Raveena Tandon Discusses Awards Process at Delhi Event With many talented stars emerging through OTT platforms, how difficult is it to decide who receives the awards? Shashi Ranjan: I want to emphasize that this time, Raveena Tandon is associated with the Indian Television Academy. There’s a defined process for determining who receives the awards. The jury is divided into three categories: some watch OTT content, some focus on television, and others on non-fiction. Each jury member scores the nominees, and then the scores are tallied to decide who wins. This process is completely transparent. However, if there’s a disagreement among jury members about a particular nominee, the chairperson steps in to provide a final verdict. This ensures that the chairperson oversees the entire process and addresses any potential issues. What qualities will you look for when awarding competitors? Raveena Tandon: I believe that any judgment should be fair and transparent so that no one can raise any objections. I understand that this platform has been very impartial for the past 24 years. Next year, we will celebrate its silver jubilee, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I take great pride in this association. What challenges and difficulties have you faced over the past 24 years? Shashi Ranjan: A journey of 24 years is significant, and awards are an area where jury members' opinions can vary—good or bad. However, to navigate this journey, one must stand firm. If there’s no clarity in your work, it becomes evident, and people take notice. Anu Ranjan: It's not as simple as announcing the winner's name directly. The camera first goes to the nominees’ faces before revealing the winner. In this industry, everyone collaborates and supports one another. Raveena ma'am, you recently received the 'Bravery Award.' What would you like to say about it? Raveena Tandon: I feel immense pride in receiving this award from Nitin Ji. While many awards are presented, receiving one for bravery holds a special significance. My team stood by me during the incident in Bandra, and I must stand with them during challenging times. I want to thank everyone who supported me and encouraged people to speak up against injustices. When someone faces an accident, we should all step forward to help. It’s not like the police will keep you confined at the station. In conclusion, Shashi Ranjan mentioned that next year we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of these awards, which is a remarkable milestone. He expressed hope that the evening would be a beautiful celebration of television. It’s noteworthy that over time, the popularity of the Indian Television Academy Awards has soared, surpassing other film awards in viewership and reach.
