‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’: Parth Samthaan Returns to TV, Playing the Role of Mahid

Colors TV’s new fiction drama ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’ is currently creating a lot of buzz. In this show, popular TV star Parth Samthaan will be seen playing the role of Mahid. Along with him, Mahi Vij and newcomer Rishita are also in important roles. After several years, Parth is making a remarkable return to television through this show. Recently, Parth had an exclusive conversation with Shilpa Nalamwar from Mayapuri Magazine, where he spoke openly about his character, the challenges of working in Urdu, the unique world of the show, and his chemistry with co-actress Rishita Kothari. This is your first show on Colors TV. How does it feel?

I am very excited. This is my first time working with Colors. The world of this show is completely different—new people, a new environment, and even a new language. We are working in Urdu, which is a completely fresh and interesting experience for me. Viewers will get to see a new story and a new on-screen pairing.

What makes this show special and different from other stories?

The most special aspect is its story and its language. The writer has stepped into production for the first time. This is a whole new world, and we have to challenge ourselves constantly. Speaking long dialogues in Urdu isn’t easy—it requires practice. But I’m enjoying the learning process a lot.

In the promo, your character seems to have grey shades. How was it playing this role?

Honestly, I never imagined I would play a character like this. That’s the beauty of being an actor—you get roles you never even dream of. My character, Mahid, is quite intense; his pain and anger come from his own past. The show has two parallel tracks—Seher’s story is different, and mine is different. Viewers will get to see a lot more thrill and freshness ahead.

You mentioned that Urdu was completely new for you. How challenging was it?

Very challenging—almost like learning a new language from scratch. I even had to practice by reading the azaan. The language, the tone, the rhythm—everything required hard work. We learn something new every day. The mind also gets challenged constantly.

How was your experience working with your co-star Rishita Kothari?

This is her first series. She may not have experience, but she has great clarity—she understands the scenes well and picks up dialogues quickly. She’s hardworking and smart. I’ve kept a slight distance from her so that our on-screen chemistry feels natural. My character also keeps a distance from women, so this setup fits perfectly with the story.

The show also highlights themes of women’s freedom and their struggles. What’s your take on that?

The show depicts two different worlds. Seher is fighting her own battles, and my character carries his own wounds. Viewers will get to see the depth and complexity of both their lives.

Any challenges or memorable moments from the shoot that you can share?

I’ve suffered a lot of injuries—sometimes actual blood came out. During action and intense scenes, this often happens because you need to put in full energy and emotion. Yes, injuries happened, but there’s a certain joy in that too. It feels like all the hard work and dedication we’re putting in will clearly show on screen, and that our efforts are truly paying off.

What would you like to say to your fans who are excited about your TV comeback?

My fans have always given me immense love—from ‘Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan’ till now. This is a new-age love story set in a new world. Our show’s story is very beautiful. I just hope viewers give it a place in their hearts.
