Shabir Ahluwalia TV Comeback: Stars in Sony SAB’s Rom-Com 'Uff... Yeh Love Hai Mushkil'

Veteran television actor Shabir Ahluwalia, widely recognized for his roles in shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Kahin Toh Milenge, Kkavyanjali, Kasamh Se, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kayamath, Laagi Tujhse Lagan, and Kumkum Bhagya, will soon be seen in Sony SAB’s romantic comedy Uff... Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, produced by Full House Media. In the show, he plays the character of Yug Sinha.

Shabir Ahluwalia Talks Role, Scripts & Sony Bond

Recently, renowned entertainment magazine Mayapuri’s journalist Shilpa Patil caught up with Shabir Ahluwalia for a candid chat. During the conversation, Shabir shared his thoughts on his character, the show’s concept, his association with Sony, and his unique approach to selecting scripts. Here’s what he had to say:

• Congratulations on your new show! Is this your first time collaborating with Sony? What would you like to share about that?

Yes, this is my first show with Sony, and I’m truly excited about it. It’s a very creative team, and together, we’re trying to bring something new and fresh to the audience. Everything I’ve seen so far has impressed me. I’m really enjoying what I’m doing, and I hope the audience has as much fun watching it as we are having while making it.

• You’ve played many romantic roles in the past, but this character seems a bit intense and different. Yet, you’ve portrayed it with love. How has the experience been for you?

On television, it’s rare to find opportunities where you can portray a story by blending the past and present together in such a meaningful way. This show is presented in a non-linear format. My character isn’t one that you’ll immediately like; he grows on you slowly. If, even after that, you don’t connect with him, then we’ve probably missed something. He’s eccentric, a bit of a diva, but we hope that you’ll fall in love with him over time.

• In the promo, Yug’s attitude towards women seems a bit harsh. Is that due to a past experience?

Yes, absolutely. But to know more, you’ll have to watch the show. As the story unfolds, you’ll get to know everything gradually. It’s a very engaging and dramatic love story.

• You’ve done many successful shows over the years, even as some shows nowadays end quickly. Your roles always leave a lasting impression. What do you look for in a script?

I choose projects from the heart. If I enjoy listening to the story, I know I’ll enjoy performing it even more. This is an audio-visual medium — if the audio excites me, imagine how amazing the visual will be. I try to pick characters that are different from my previous roles and offer something new to the audience. But the real credit goes to God and the viewers. If they shower their love, only then can your work be appreciated.

• Love is difficult for Yug, but what does love mean to Shabir?

For me, love is very simple. I don’t find it difficult at all. I believe the value you give to love is what you get back. Nobody taught us how to love, but we learned it ourselves — loving our parents, friends, spouse, and children. Love is a natural feeling — the more you give, the more you receive. I’m a simple and grounded person, and my approach to love is equally straightforward.

• After Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam: Radha Mohan, this is your next offering to your fans. What would you like to say to your audience?

I want to thank all of you for the constant love and support. Over the years, you’ve loved me in so many ways. This is a new character who might not appeal to you right away, but I promise, with time, you’ll definitely connect with him and grow fond of him.
