Shreya Pilgaonkar Returns in Taza Khabar S2, Talks New Challenges

Shreya Pilgaonkar, known for her impressive performances in web series like The Broken News, Mirzapur, and Guilty Minds, is back in the spotlight with her upcoming series Taza Khabar Season 2, where she will be seen alongside Bhuvan Bam. Having also appeared in Shah Rukh Khan’s film Fan, she began her career with the Marathi film Ekulti Ek, for which she received the Best Newcomer award. She has also been featured in various TV commercials. In this exclusive conversation with us, Shreya discusses the twists in Taza Khabar Season 2, how her character will be affected, her shooting experience, and her upcoming projects.

• You’re returning to OTT with Taza Khabar Season 2, which was a big hit. What do you have to say about this success?

Shreya: I’m very happy to have received such great projects. The OTT platform has been game-changing for my career. I’m really excited about Taza Khabar Season 2, especially since the first season was India’s third most-watched show on Disney+ Hotstar. We’re not just back; we’re back with a bang!

• Every new season has its unique characters. What makes this season special for you?

Shreya: This season is very special for me. Before Taza Khabar, I played a lawyer in Guilty Minds and a news reporter in The Broken News. However, in Taza Khabar, I portray a sex worker, which combines drama and comedy. Working with Bhuvan and the BBK Vines team was exciting because they’ve accomplished so much already. Each character in this season has something unique, and viewers really connected with the show’s magical concept. Sometimes, simple stories resonate deeply with people.

• After Season 1, expectations for Season 2 are high. What can viewers expect from Shreya this season?

Shreya: Season 1 ended with questions about whether a character is dead or dying. Season 2 will explore what happens next. Madhu has evolved; she’s not the same person as before. The arrival of money brings both good and bad, which raises questions about the importance of relationships versus wealth. There are also new characters this season, like Javed Ji, whose role is a turning point for the show. We’ve included some action scenes this time, which were a lot of fun!

• The shooting for this season has just wrapped up. How was your experience?

Shreya: It’s a bit tough to let go of a character after wrapping up filming because you’ve formed a bond. But I feel fortunate to have played such interesting roles. I don’t just leave them behind; I learn from them. I keep my character in my heart for a few days. We had so much fun on set, whether it was with Bhuvan, Prathamesh, or Deven. We all have a great time together, and that joy translates on screen.

• Having played various characters, is there a dream role or project you aspire to?

Shreya: Absolutely! I would love to be part of a cinematic film where I get to dance, like in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. I enjoy dancing a lot, and I performed a Holi song in Nikhil Advani’s Dry Day. I want to focus on projects where I can be presented in new ways.

• Any upcoming projects you’d like to share with us?

Shreya: I can’t reveal much right now, but after Taza Khabar, we’ll be starting a new project. I’ll share more information in a couple of months!

• What message would you like to give to your fans?

Shreya: Thank you for your love and support! Please watch Taza Khabar Season 2; it’s going to be very exciting, and I can’t wait to see it myself!
