Suhasi Dhami Interview: Talks About Her New Show ‘Ae Dil Jee Le Zara’!

Suhasi Dhami, who became a household name for her roles as Abha in "Main Ghar Ghar Kheli" and Vedika Mathur in "Aap Ke Aa Jane Se", is all set to return to television with a new show, "Ae Dil Jee Le Zara" on Dangal TV. In this show, she plays a significant role. Recently, MayaPuri journalist Shilpa Patil caught up with her for an exclusive interview. Suhasi opened up about her new show, her character, and what it’s like to return to work after a long hiatus. Let’s dive into what she had to say.

Suhasi Dhami on Her New Show & Comeback to TV

You’re making a comeback on television after quite some time with this show. From the promo, we can see that you are playing a very popular character, a producer. What can you tell us about your character, Nandini, and her personality?

Nandini was a singer, and then she turned into a producer. Now, she and her husband run a company, and music is incredibly important to her; she has a deep connection with music. I feel that as a singer, there’s always a high point, but eventually, it fades away as new talent comes in. I think that’s what happened with Nandini, and she transformed into a producer because of her love for music.

We’ve seen you play various roles on television, so how is this role different from your previous ones? And your look is quite different too, could you tell us more about that?

Yes, I’ve never played a character with such long hair. And yes, the look is quite different. Till now, the characters I’ve played were all underdog types, but this one is a bit different. A producer’s look is distinct, and it’s going to be fun playing that. It feels like a refreshing change.

In the promo shoot, what can the audience expect? What would you like to share about the show?

In the promo, you’ll see a confrontation between Nandini and Karan Bindra. Karan Bindra is a superstar singer. The storyline of the show will unfold as you watch it, so you’ll have to tune in to discover more. You’ll also get a glimpse of Anandini’s character, her journey to becoming a singer, and what her future holds in this reality show.

What’s the unique element of this show, and what excites you most about it?

I’m really looking forward to the music in this show because it’s a musical. I’m sure a lot of effort has been put into the music, as when you listen to a good song, it completely changes the mood and atmosphere. I’m excited because I’ve never acted in a musical before, so this is something new for me. It’s an exciting challenge!

What is your relationship with music?

I absolutely love music. I’m not sure if I can say that I ‘like’ it because it’s more than that. Music completely transforms me. If I’m in a bad mood or something’s wrong, and a song from years ago starts playing, it just feels so soothing and comforting.

Is there a song that’s your all-time favorite, one that always lifts your mood when you're feeling down?

Not really. My favorite songs change over time. Sometimes, I’ll find myself humming a song from the black-and-white era, and it gives me peace. That’s how it is for me. I don’t have a specific all-time favorite, but the right song always seems to find its way to me.

What would you like to say to your fans?

I’d like to tell my fans that a new show is coming, and my look and character are different. I hope that, just like you’ve given me so much love in every show, you will continue to support me in this one as well and watch it. The show is coming very soon, and I’m excited to share it with all of you!
