The 50 Reality Show: Bebika Dhurve Opens Up Before Premiere

The world of reality television is set for another major shake-up with The 50. For the first time ever, a reality show has brought together 50 contestants under one roof, creating massive buzz among viewers. Among the participants is Bigg Boss OTT 2 fame Bebika Dhurve, who, ahead of the show’s premiere, opened up about her strategy, beliefs, and expectations.

What was your first reaction when you were offered The 50?

When I was offered The 50, it felt completely different from other reality shows. Bringing 50 contestants together is a huge and unique concept. I’ve already done shows with 10–15 participants, but testing myself among 50 people felt new and exciting, so I immediately said yes.

The show will have daily eliminations. Does that make you nervous?

Of course, there’s some nervousness. Daily eliminations can scare anyone. But I keep reminding myself—if I can survive in a jungle and do shows like Reality Rani’s, then I can do this too. I just need to give my best.

Are you entering the show with a fixed strategy?

No, I never enter a reality show with a pre-planned strategy. I go in completely blank. I don’t like manipulation, cheap tricks or mind games. That said, I do read people very quickly—I can sense what’s going on in their minds. I don’t attack; I defend myself.

What would you like to say about your social image in the industry?

I’m not very social in the industry. I’m not someone who believes in “networking for convenience.” I’ve met a few people at events and social gatherings—like Archana Gautam, with whom I’ve spoken before and feel we’ll have fun together. I’ve also seen Shiv Thackeray at events; he seems positive. I’ll get to know the rest inside the show.

How does it feel to share the space with contestants you’ve admired for years?

It feels extremely exciting. Some contestants are genuinely fan moments for me. For instance, Urvashi Dholakia—I’ve watched her on television since my childhood. Seeing her in person will be very special.

How do you view physical tasks between male and female contestants?

This isn’t a woman card—it’s science. Men and women have different bodies and hormones. Men are generally physically stronger. But I believe men and women don’t compete with each other; they complement each other.

Does staying under 24×7 cameras and public judgment scare you?

Not at all. I don’t carry a fake image. I am exactly how I am. In reality shows, you get judged and trolled—it’s part of the package. If you start living according to others’ opinions, you stop living altogether.

Will we see a love angle in The 50?

No. I don’t come to reality shows to find a relationship. The kind of men I like don’t come to reality shows. From my experience, many men here don’t respect women or elders, so I don’t even think in that direction.

The prize money is ₹50 lakh. Who do you think deserves to win?

I clearly don’t want the ₹50 lakh to go into the hands of a wrong or toxic person. Whoever wins should be a good human being who uses the money for the right reasons. Such a large amount shouldn’t go to just anyone.

How do you see your fan base?

I interact with my fans regularly. They are educated and sensible people—doctors, lawyers, architects and designers. I don’t want a wrong person winning in my name and using that money for something negative.

Recently, a reality show winner was accused of winning through PR and social media strategy. What’s your take on that?

If you win only through PR and money, your real personality eventually comes out. Then the same fans start abusing you. Such a victory has no real value.

What would you like to say about Elvish Yadav and his fan following?

He is toxic—and so is his fan base. I always try to stay away from toxicity. My circle is never toxic. The people I sit with in any show remain my friends inside and outside the show. They are respectful and professional.
My Dubai lawyer has already said this— Elvish Yadav is banned in Dubai. He has done such things that his entry there is banned.

Its unique concept and the opportunity to test myself on a new level.

Solo. I’m a lone wolf.
