Meiyang Chang is an actor, television host, singer, and dentist. He appeared as a contestant in the third season of the singing reality show Indian Idol, in which he was one of the five finalists. Apart from this, he participated in season 4 of the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' and he also won. Till a few years ago, I used to get away with everything but when you are on camera, you have to be careful. People who are in front of the camera have to take great care of their health, they have to avoid a lot of food, but this is a common thing. Now the important thing is how to convince the family that you have to do all this. Whenever I tell Nani, don't put so much oil in the food, don't fry the food so much, or don't give me so much food, Nani doesn't understand why I am saying this. Because of our mothers, grandmothers, and grandmothers who feed us with so much love, we will always remain thin and weak. It is a very cute situation when they feed you and you keep eating and then you run more to burn it.

What time do you eat your last meal of the day?

Being in the industry, there is no timing for meals. I have many friends who are very particular about their meals and their last meal should be before 7 pm or by sunset. It is a little difficult for me to do this. I try to eat on time but sometimes it becomes a bit difficult to do so, like last night I had dinner at midnight. I also believe that one should eat at the right time. My mother says that there should be discipline in eating and I tell her that it is a bit difficult to follow this thing in the industry.

Are you an early riser or a night owl?

I am a night owl. I spent 10 years in boarding school, and 5 years when I was in dental college. I had to wake up early in the morning and that's when I decided that I would not get up early in the morning unless it was necessary.

What is your favorite meal of the day?

My favorite food is breakfast. Even if breakfast is very heavy, I don't feel guilty about it. Breakfast is very good.

What is your favorite cuisine?

Authentic Chinese which is rarely found in India. It is available at some places in Kolkata and is made in our homes. Now I have started liking Indian Chinese also a little. Earlier I could not understand what this Chinese Bhel or Chinese Idli was but then I came to know that many years ago when Chinese people opened their restaurants in Mumbai, they created their dishes by mixing them with our dishes like Manchurian Chinese. It is not a dish but it was made for Indian people. I also like Mughlai food very much. I like good biryani, especially the one available in Kolkata. There can be a thousand debates on this but the biryani available in Kolkata is the best. I love things like mutton, kebab, chaap, and rain, especially if they are from Delhi, Kolkata, Kashmir, and Lucknow. If we talk about pure vegetarian food then Punjabi food is the best.

What is your favorite street food?

Phuchka, especially the phuchka of Kolkata.

If you had to give any tips to your fans, what would you like to say?

Fitness mostly means diet, workout is just a part of it. If fitness were to be plotted on a pie chart, 70 to 80 percent would be about diet. Eating here and there occasionally is okay but a proper diet should be maintained. Eat home-cooked food as much as possible. And you should do any kind of physical activity, whether it is gym or yoga, and if you play sports then it is very good because I think this is the best way to motivate yourself to work out. When you go to the gym or do yoga, you will get bored sometimes, but when you play any sport, you are invested in that thing and you take more care of your health. I say this because I am very bored of going to the gym, but any time you ask me to play cricket, I will be ready for you.
