The popular show Tenali Rama, aired on Sony SAB, is back with a new season. Krishna Bhardwaj returns to the role of Tenali Rama, bringing a fresh wave of excitement and hope to the audience. In this exclusive interview with MayaPuri's Shilpa Patil, Krishna shares insights about the new concept of the show, his new look, and his experience working with the team. Krishna, what do you think about the return of the show? How has the audience's response been? Yes, the response we"ve received for the return of Tenali Rama has been tremendous. Social media is very active these days, and we"ve received so much love from the audience. The response on social media has been really positive. When fans requested that the show be aired at 8 PM, the channel listened to them and made a reel to tell the audience that their voice had been heard. It brings joy to see that their childhood memories have been revived with the show"s return. Let"s talk about your look this time. It"s quite different from the previous one. Can you tell us more about it? Yes, this time the look is a bit different. In the previous season, our costumes were glittery and shiny, but this time, the clothes have a matte finish and richer fabric. The new look has a more royal and historical feel because we are showcasing the historical significance of the show more prominently in this season. I feel very comfortable in this new look, especially with the iconic topknot and dhoti that define Tenali Rama. I also had to lose a bit of weight to recreate the look from eight years ago, which was a challenge. Speaking of your hair, you"ve kept the same style. What inspired you to do that? I knew I"d have to cut my hair for this role, but as an actor, I find it fun when a challenging role comes my way. The look is very important for portraying Tenali Rama. As soon as I get into this get-up, I feel a surge of energy inside me. In the first season, I didn"t get much opportunity to work on the character of Bhaskar Adhyay because the look was different. The audience loves me as Tenali Rama without hair, which is why when I got the chance to reprise this role, I was more than happy to accept it. You"ve worked on Sony SAB for quite some time. With the rise of OTT platforms, what do you think makes the return of this show special? It"s very special because nowadays after a show ends, people tend to forget about it. But the love and response Tenali Rama has received is unique. People today are looking for something positive, not regressive dramas filled with negativity. That"s what makes this show different. We try to bring good ideas and knowledge to our viewers. People are eager to learn about their religion, culture, and ancient traditions, which is why the show has earned a special place in their hearts. I consider myself lucky that the audience has called me back with so much love. This show is for the whole family. Do you have something to say about that? Absolutely! This show is for every family member, especially for children. Many years ago, I watched an interview with Aamir Khan, where his father said that if you win the hearts of children, the whole family—including grandparents—will love you. And I think I"m lucky because kids, mothers, and elders all love me. Through this show, I"ve received love from viewers of all ages. That"s why the repeat value of this show is so high. People watch it again and again on YouTube, and that"s one of the special things about it. This season brings some historical changes. Will the audience be seeing something new this time? Yes, this season will bring in some historical facts. You will see places like Golconda and kingdoms that existed in history. Tenali Rama won"t just solve cases with his intelligence, but he will also emotionally connect with the people and solve their problems on a deeper level. He won"t just provide solutions, but will get to the root of the problems and help people. This season will be more emotional, and the characters will grow more as well. Krishna, when you were approached for Season 2, did you immediately agree or did you take some time to decide? When I was contacted for Season 2, I immediately said yes. But after I hung up the phone, I got a little scared, thinking that I"d have to go back to the old daily routine. But then, I decided to commit fully to Tenali Rama because the role is so strong, and I just can"t get out of it. That"s why Tenali Rama has given me the most recognition, and I can"t turn it down. How was your chemistry with Pankaj Ji in the previous series? Yes, the jokes and chemistry between Pankaj Ji and me were a lot of fun. The audience really enjoyed that. We shared some great moments together, and I think the viewers felt a special connection with us. This season is also going to be great, and I look forward to seeing the audience's reaction. What message would you like to give to your fans? I am very happy that Tenali Rama is back, and I hope you will love it just as much as you did before.
