Tusshar Kapoor Completes 25 Years in Hindi Cinema, Says “I Want to Work Even More Than Before”

Tusshar Kapoor is among those actors in Hindi cinema who have adapted themselves with every changing phase of the industry and carved a distinct identity. After being associated with films as a child artist, he made his debut as a lead actor in 2001. Now, he has completed 25 years in the film industry. From comic roles to serious performances, he has consistently entertained audiences.

From the popular Golmaal Franchise to films like Khakee and Shor in the City, his career reflects versatility. The year 2026 is being considered a significant milestone for him, with major releases like Welcome to the Jungle, Janadesh, and the much-awaited Golmaal 5 lined up. In a recent conversation, Tusshar spoke openly about his journey, struggles, learnings, and future plans.

You have completed 25 years in the industry. How did time pass so quickly?

Honestly, even I don’t realize how these 25 years flew by. It feels like 2024 was just yesterday, and suddenly, 2025 is over. I think when you’re constantly working and happy, time just flies. But when you’re bored, even a single day feels heavy. For me, work and happiness made the years pass in a blink.

How do you look at your journey across these 25 years?

I’ve seen many phases of the industry—television boom, satellite era, internet growth, and now OTT platforms. Things were different in 2010, changed again after 2015, and post-pandemic, everything has become unpredictable. Earlier, there was a sense of security regarding openings and business. Today, nothing is certain. All you can do is keep working hard and trust destiny.

Any memories from these years that you want to cherish forever?

Every film and every character is precious to me. Back then, I used to think when will the shoot end, but today, when I look back, those were the happiest moments. When I watch my old films on TV or OTT now, I don’t see the mistakes I once noticed. I’ve realized that no hard work ever goes waste, even if a film doesn’t succeed.

You mentioned that you enjoy work more now. Can you elaborate?

Yes, I’ve realized that I’m a workaholic. I thrive under stress. When there’s no work, I feel restless. At this age, I truly understand the joy of working. That’s why I call this phase my 2.0 phase. From now on, I want to work even more than I ever have.

Is entering the industry easier or tougher today?

It’s still tough, but in a different way. Earlier, there were fewer facilities but less competition. Today, there are many platforms—social media, Instagram, and OTT. You can be an actor, host, or content creator. But the competition is massive. Becoming a star is still not easy.

2026 looks very special for you. Tell us about your upcoming projects.

2026 will see the release of some of my biggest films:

• Welcome to the Jungle  – a mega multi-starrer releasing on 26 June 2026
• Janadesh  – my first political thriller with Prakash Jha (Prakash Jha), where I play an MLA
• Golmaal 5 – returning to one of the biggest franchises of my career.

All these films are major milestones for me.

How was your experience working with Prakash Jha?

It was wonderful. He is extremely disciplined, organized and strict about time. Everything is planned in advance—workshops, schedules, rehearsals. Working with him is a big achievement for any actor. Janadesh is truly a turning point in my career.

How do you manage family time amid a busy schedule?

I consider myself lucky because most of my shoots happen in Mumbai. I return home by evening, and even spending half an hour with my family means a lot to me. If you are sorted in your mind, you can manage multiple things smoothly.

Your message for fans as you enter this new phase?

2026 is very important for me. The love you’ve given me from 2001 to 2025—please continue that same love from 2026 onwards. It’s been 25 years, and I’ll try to entertain you for the next 2500 years.
