Salman Khan, fondly known as Bhaijaan, is all set to release his action-packed film Sikandar this Eid, and it’s already making waves. The film features actor Vikas Verma, who has been seen in popular films like Yaariyan, Mom, Judwaa 2, Raabta, and Shandaar. Recently, Mayapuri’s journalist Shilpa Patil sat down with Vikas for an exclusive interview. In this conversation, Vikas shared his experience of working with Salman Khan, his role in Sikandar, and his career journey. Let's see what he had to say.

How was your experience working in Sikandar, and how was it working with Salman Khan?

Meeting Salman Khan is a dream for millions of people in India, and it was one of mine too. I thought I’d probably take a picture with him one day, but fate had other plans. Destiny gave me the chance to work with him, and when the film was completed, it turned out to be a fantastic one. It has everything — emotions, songs, romance, drama, and action. Now that the film is about to release, I’m really excited.

As you mentioned, the film has action and fight sequences. Will we see you fighting alongside Salman Khan, as shown in the posters, where you appear with his team?

Yes, Salman is the king, and I am one of his soldiers. As soldiers, we fight. We fight until the king commands us to stop. If anyone raises their voice against the king, we’ll break them. In the film, we walk with respect alongside the king, solving people’s problems.

Tell us about the fight sequences in the film. How were they shot?

The fight sequences in Sikandar are absolutely amazing. Kevin Kumar, a renowned action master from the South, choreographed the action scenes. Salman Khan has previously done South-style action in Wanted, but what we’ve seen in Sikandar is something new and incredible. You must have seen in the trailer that we are running with spears. It’s called the "Crab Formation." We look like crabs, with three of us on one side, three on the other, and Salman in the middle. Even when surrounded by 30-40 or even 200 people, we use this formation to defeat them, as the king has commanded.

In the beginning of the trailer, there’s a scene with all your pictures and the word "WANTED" written on it. What did you do that made this happen?

This is actually part of the film’s storyline. We come from Rajkot to Mumbai, and due to some incidents, our pictures are labeled as "WANTED." Why this happens will be revealed in the film.

Vikas Verma role in sikandar

We’ve heard that you’ve been in the industry for 15-16 years, having worked in several shows and films. This is your third project with Sajid Nadiadwala. How do you see this phase of your career?

I believe God has been kind to me and has given me far more than I ever imagined. I’ve had the opportunity to work in big blockbuster films with big stars and have played amazing roles. I’ve never had the chance to play a negative lead before. Sajid Sir is like a godfather to me. I respect him deeply, almost like a father. Knowing him and having him appreciate my work is a huge honor. Getting a role in Bollywood and having someone like him support you is truly invaluable.

Everyone has dreams, and surely you have some, too. What’s left on your bucket list?

The dream I had was fulfilled long ago. I always wanted to be a lead actor in a film, and that’s done. Now, I’m on a journey that will never end. My path is taking me in new directions, and I’ll keep meeting new people along the way. I’ve done 14 big films, but Salman Khan’s film is different. It’s a film that will not only be watched in India but across the world. This will be my most-watched and most-praised film.

Who is Vikas Verma, age. hight, film, biography

In today’s era of cinema, it’s not necessary to be the lead role to get appreciation. Even a 10-15 minute role can leave a lasting impact. How do you view the changing dynamics of cinema? How will your character, Salim, connect with the audience?

Getting a role in Salman Khan’s film is a huge opportunity. But it’s an even bigger thing to deliver a dialogue in such a film. If you speak from all your heart, it will stay in the audience’s minds. This dialogue stays throughout the film. Salman Khan is truly a magician — whatever he touches turns into destiny. A.R. Murugadoss, the director, is a genius who has created a beautifully emotional film.

Can you share some behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot?

We lived each moment to the fullest. I spent 90 days with my guru, my mentor. I’ve learned so much from him. When he looks at me or meets me, he just smiles, and that’s a big deal for me. I’ve worked out with him, and we’ve spent 6-8 hours together just talking and learning.

How did you handle on-camera nervousness?

I don’t get nervous when acting because that’s my job. But when it comes to expressing myself as a person, I do get nervous. When you’re about to propose to someone, your heart races, and it feels like the world stops for a moment. I had that feeling, but I kept going. Eventually, I started to smile because for me, a smile is all you need to express yourself.

What makes Sikandar special?

Salman Khan’s films are always great, but this one has a unique charm. It has everything — emotion, drama, suspense, and a lot of action. It’s a great mix, and I believe the audience will love it.

Do you have any upcoming projects?

Yes! This year, I’ll be starring in a film called Iqroop with Mithila Palkar. It’s produced by Ali Abbas Zafar and will be releasing on Jio Cinema. I’m also going to Sydney for an international film project.

What message would you like to give to your fans and the audience?

I would like to tell everyone to go watch Sikandar. It’s a film that will make you cheer. It’s a dance movie that’ll get your feet moving, and don’t tear down the curtains because it’s going to be a family entertainer. It’s a film for everyone, and Bhaijaan has given us all a treat this Eid. Watch it and enjoy, and if you spot me, don’t forget to tag me!

Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s film Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is set to release in theaters on March 30, 2025.
